Hey everyone! I recently joined the Mercedes family with a new GLB that has the Macchiato Beige MB-Tex interior. I absolutely love the look of it, but being such a light color, I’m starting to get a bit paranoid about dye transfer from my jeans and general grime from daily driving.
I know MB-Tex is technically a vinyl/synthetic material and not real leather, which is great for durability, but I’ve heard mixed things about what products to use. Some people swear by just using a damp microfiber cloth, while others say that over time, the material can get shiny or even crack if you don't use a dedicated cleaner. I really want to maintain that soft, matte factory finish for as long as possible without accidentally stripping the protective coating or using something too harsh that smells like chemicals.
I’ve been looking at a few options like the official Mercedes-Benz interior cleaner, the Nextzett Cockpit Premium, and even some of the Chemical Guys products, but it’s hard to tell what’s actually safe for 'vegan leather' specifically. I also noticed some small scuffs on the driver's side bolster already, so I'm looking for a kit that includes a gentle brush to get into the grain of the material without being too abrasive.
Since many of you have had your cars for years, what are your 'holy grail' cleaning kits for MB-Tex? Do you recommend a specific protectant to prevent UV damage and staining, or is a simple cleaner enough? I’m looking to spend around $40-$60 for a solid starter kit that actually works. Any tips or product links would be greatly appreciated!

Oh man, I totally feel u on that! When I first got my GLB with the Macchiato interior, I was literally terrified to wear blue jeans lol. Honestly tho, don't overthink it. Since MB-Tex is basically vinyl, it's way tougher than real leather, but you gotta be careful not to use harsh stuff that kills the matte finish.
I've tried a bunch of stuff and honestly, the best budget move is P&S Detail Products Xpress Interior Cleaner 1 Pint. It's super cheap (like $12-15) and smells amazing. I mix it 1:1 with water and it works *perfectly* on MB-Tex without leaving it shiny or greasy. For those scuffs, I'd grab a Chemical Guys Leather Cleaning Brush or even just a soft horsehair brush to get into the grain.
I would suggest skipping the expensive protectants... just a quick wipe with 303 Aerospace Protectant 16oz every few months keeps the UV damage away and costs way less than the official MB kits. Basically, for like $40 total you're set for years. gl with the new ride! 👍

Basically, you gotta be really careful with MB-Tex because it's essentially just high-end vinyl. In my experience, the biggest mistake people make is using actual leather conditioners on it. Since it's non-porous, those oils just sit on the surface, making it super greasy and actually attracting *more* dirt and dye transfer over time.
I would suggest sticking to a dedicated interior cleaner that's specifically labeled as 'matte finish.' Here's what I recommend for your GLB:
* Go with a pH-neutral interior cleaner (the official MB one is actually decent, or look at the Nextzett stuff).
* Get a soft horsehair brush—seriously, don't use stiff nylon because it can micro-scratch the finish.
* Always do a final wipe with a clean, damp microfiber to remove any residue.
I mean, I've seen people ruin their Macchiato seats by scrubbing too hard or using harsh APCs. Just keep it simple and you'll be fine! gl!
Seconding the recommendation above about avoiding oily conditioners! After 10 years with MB-Tex, I've learned that less is more. For your budget, check these out:
1. Nextzett Cockpit Premium 500ml - Best for that factory matte look. It's super gentle but maybe too weak for heavy dye transfer.
2. Gyeon Q2M VinylCleaner 500ml - Actually better for those scuffs you mentioned. It cleans deeper without being harsh.
Honestly, I'd go with Gyeon for the beige. Good luck!! 👍
