Tbh I think everyone is focusing a bit too much on just dash cams here. While they're useful, you really have to be careful with the CLS electrical architecture. From what I've seen in other threads and community reviews, these cars are superrr sensitive to voltage drops. If you hardwire something incorrectly, you’re basically asking for those annoying "low battery" warnings on your dash every morning. Not 100% sure on the exact tolerances for the newer models, but I’ve heard the CAN bus can get really cranky if there's a constant parasitic draw. Honestly, before jumping into heavy electronics, maybe consider some high-quality interior protection? Like custom-fit floor liners or even a ceramic coating for the center console trim—that piano black is a total scratch magnet. Idk, I just think it's better to avoid messing with the wiring too much unless you have a dedicated battery setup. Dealing with Mercedes electrical gremlins is a massive headache you definitely dont want. Just my two cents!
