Just picked up my new Mercedes EQB and I'm absolutely loving the ride, but I’m a bit stuck on charging for an upcoming road trip. I’m looking for a reliable portable EV charger that I can keep in the trunk for emergencies or stays at Airbnbs. Ideally, I’d like something that supports both 110v and 240v (NEMA 14-50) so I can get faster speeds when available. I've looked at a few third-party options, but I’m nervous about getting those annoying "charging faulted" error codes on the Mercedes dashboard. Does anyone have a specific brand or model they’ve had great success with specifically on their EQB?

Quick reply while I have a sec! For your situation, I would suggest looking at more budget-friendly options that still handle the EQB software well. Honestly, I mean, you don't always need to spend $500+ for a backup charger. I've been super satisfied with the Lectron Level 1 / Level 2 Portable EV Charger (110V/240V, 16 Amp, NEMA 5-15 & 14-50).

So yeah, here is why this one works well for a budget-focused setup:

• It's usually around $180-$200, which is basically a steal compared to the official Mercedes gear.
• It comes with the NEMA 5-15 and 14-50 adapters included, so no extra costs there.
• It's only 16 Amps, which is kinda slow for a 240v, but it's sooo much safer for random Airbnb outlets that might have older wiring.

I havent had any "charging faulted" errors on my EQB with this one yet!! Definitely a solid, low-cost insurance policy for your trunk. gl!

yo, congrats on the new EQB! i've had mine for about a year and honestly, it's such a smooth ride. i totally get the anxiety about those "charging faulted" errors tho... Mercedes software can be picky as heck with third-party gear.

I've been using the Mustart Level 2 Portable EV Charger 40 Amp NEMA 14-50 for my road trips and it's been rock solid. It handles both 110v and 240v perfectly and i haven't seen a single error code yet. Plus, it comes with a carrying case which is basically essential for keeping the trunk organized.

Pro tip: Check out the [[RESOURCE:PlugShare app]] if you haven't already. It’s literal life-saver for finding reliable outlets at Airbnbs and seeing real-time reviews from other EQB owners.

TL;DR: Mustart Level 2 Portable EV Charger 40 Amp NEMA 14-50 is a beast and works well with the EQB's onboard system.

Are you planning on doing mostly overnight charging or do you need faster top-ups during the day? 👍

Honestly, i was so stressed about the same thing when i first got my EQB because the Mercedes charging software is basically a diva. I ended up getting a dual-voltage unit that handles both 110v and 240v, and it's been a total lifesaver for Airbnb stays. My current setup hasn't thrown a single error code yet, which is lucky cuz some of those cheap ones are sketchy as heck. Safety is huge for me, so I'd say just make sure whatever you grab has solid overheating protection so you don't fry anything while you're sleeping! it's definitely worth the peace of mind imo.
