I just bought a Nissan Rogue hybrid for my new city commute and I am honestly so confused by all the tech. I have about 250 bucks left for extras but I have no clue where to even start. Sorry if this is a dumb question but what accessories are actually necessary for this car?
> I have about 250 bucks left for extras but I have no clue where to even start. Congrats on the new ride! Honestly, the tech can be a total headache at first. Since youre in the city, the first thing I would suggest is getting some solid floor mats. You dont want to ruin that new carpet with city slush and coffee spills. I use the WeatherTech FloorLiner Floor Mats and they have saved my interior more times than I can count. tbh its the best money youll spend. Another thing... be careful with the cargo area. It gets scratched up fast. I might want to consider a Nissan OEM Cargo Area Protector if you can find a deal. Also, since its a hybrid and youre in traffic, maybe look into a dashcam? I use the VIOFO A119 V3 Dash Cam 1440P because city drivers are honestly nuts. Just make sure to hide the wires so you dont mess up the trim.
Building on the earlier suggestion, floor mats are cool, but I kinda disagree on them being the absolute first thing you need. Since youre doing a city commute, people drive like absolute lunatics and honestly, you might want to consider protecting your insurance premiums first... seriously. I would suggest spending that 250 bucks on a solid dashcam. If someone clips you in traffic and claims its your fault, you want proof. I've looked at a few options: the VIOFO A129 Plus Duo Dash Cam 2K 1440P is great because it covers front and back, tho the wiring can be a bit of a project if you arent handy. On the other hand, something like the Garmin Dash Cam Mini 2 1080p is tiny and hides right behind the mirror, but it doesnt have a screen so you have to use an app for everything which can be glitchy. Also, be careful with those cheap generic emergency kits. Most of the stuff in there is total junk. I'd grab a Fanttik X8 Apex Portable Tire Inflator instead. City potholes will eat your tires for breakfast and finding a working air pump at a gas station is basically impossible these days. TL;DR: Prioritize a dashcam for legal safety and a portable tire pump for those nasty potholes. Floor mats are nice, but they wont help you if a delivery driver swerves into your lane!
@Reply #1 - good point! Are you charging at home or in a shared lot? I'd be careful because:
