Which LED headlight upgrades work best for the Nissan Leaf?

My stock halogen bulbs on my 2015 Leaf are pretty dim, and I’m looking for a brighter LED plug-and-play solution. I’m concerned about beam patterns and making sure they fit behind the dust covers without overheating. Does anyone have experience with specific brands like Hikari or Sealight? Which ones provide the best visibility without blinding oncoming traffic?

Sooo I’ve been driving my 2015 Leaf for about six years now, and yeah, those stock halogens are basically useless once you get used to modern lighting. I remember the first time I took a backroad at night right after I got it—I honestly thought my lights were off lol. It was pretty sketchy. Anyway, I spent a ton of time researching the technical side of the H11 housing because I was terrified of melting the dust covers or blinding everyone on the road.

In my experience, the key isn't just getting the brightest bulb, it's about the chip placement. If the LED chips aren't positioned exactly where the old filament was, your beam pattern goes totally haywire. Here's what I've learned from my current setup:

* Look for a "slim" design: The space behind the Leaf's projector is tight. If the heat sink is too bulky, you won't get that dust cover back on, which leads to moisture issues.
* Wattage matters: I found that staying around 25W-30W per bulb is the sweet spot. Anything higher gets way too hot for a sealed plastic housing imo.
* Clocking is huge: Make sure the ones you get are adjustable so you can orient the LEDs at 3 and 9 o'clock.

I eventually settled on a mid-range set with a tiny silent fan... I think the brand started with an A? Regardless, the cutoff line stayed sharp so I haven't been flashed once. It basically transformed the car. Just make sure you tuck the driver box deep into the housing before locking the bulb in place. It's a bit of a squeeze, but it works! 👍

Seconding the recommendation above! Honestly, Sealight is basically the best bang for your buck iirc. I did a bit of market research before buying mine and found that:

* Fahren bulbs are actually pretty solid value too
* Most brands under $40 usually have the same internals
* Higher wattage isn't always better cuz of the heat

Not 100% sure but I think the Cougar Motor ones also fit the 2015 Leaf dust covers. Good luck!

Ok so I definitely get the struggle with those stock candles. Before I give advice, quick question—are you looking for a fanless design or are you okay with the ones that have those tiny built-in fans?

I'm a bit more cautious about the heat build-up inside the Leaf's tight headlight housing, so I'd personally steer clear of anything too cheap. You really gotta watch out for the beam pattern so you don't blind everyone on the road! From my experience:

1. GTR Lighting Ultra 2.0 H11 LED Bulbs: These are high-end but seriously amazing for safety. The beam pattern is super precise so it mimics the halogen focal point perfectly.
2. Morimoto 2Stroke 3.0 H11 LED: These are cool because they actually use the fan to pull heat away from the housing, which might help with your dust cover concerns.

Basically, the cheaper ones often scatter light everywhere. Just be careful with the fitment since the Leaf's space is kinda tight back there!! lmk what you think about the fan situation.

Been using this for years, no complaints

Ok so I've been driving my Leaf for years and honestly the stock halogens are basically candles. For your 2015, I suggest checking out these two options I've actually used over the last few years:

1. Sealight S1 Series H11 LED Bulbs: These are great because they're super compact. I'm satisfied with how they fit behind the dust covers without any hacking, plus they don't blind people.
2. Hikari Ultra Focus H11 LED Bulbs: These are highkey brighter and have a really sharp beam pattern, though they're a bit pricier.

Both work well, but the Sealights are easier on the wallet! gl!

Like someone mentioned, those stock lights are just not up to par. It got to the point where I was tired of squinting at night, so swapping them out for a budget-friendly set became a priority a few months ago. Honestly, I'm super satisfied with how it's working out. There was some worry about the fit because drilling into my dust covers was a big no-go, but the ones I got were small enough to tuck right in. The main thing I learned is that you don't always need the most expensive kit to get a good result. This current setup is way brighter than the halogens and the light cutoff is clean, so no one is flashing their high beams at me. It's been running fine even on longer night drives with no overheating issues that I can tell. No complaints here, it just works.
