Where to find carbon fiber interior trim for 718 Cayman?

Hey everyone! I recently picked up a 718 Cayman and I’m absolutely loving the drive, but I feel like the interior is missing a bit of that 'motorsport' soul. Right now, I have the standard brushed aluminum trim, and while it looks okay, I’ve really got my heart set on swapping it out for some high-quality carbon fiber. I think it would perfectly complement the black leather and really sharpen up the cabin.

I’ve spent the last few nights scouring the web, but I’m finding a lot of conflicting information. Some of the OEM kits from Suncoast look great but are incredibly pricey, while some of the random pieces I see on eBay and Amazon look a bit 'cheap' or like simple stick-on covers, which I definitely want to avoid. I’m looking for full replacement pieces—specifically for the dashboard strips, the center console surround, and maybe the door trim.

I have a few specific concerns I’m hoping you guys can help with. First, does anyone have experience with the fitment of aftermarket brands like DB Carbon or MA Carbon? I’m worried about gaps or the weave not matching if I buy pieces separately. Second, for those who have done this swap yourself, how difficult is it to pop the old trim off without snapping those plastic clips or damaging the dash? I’m fairly handy, but prying things off a Porsche always makes me a little nervous!

I’m looking for that perfect balance of high-end OEM look without necessarily paying the full 'Porsche Tax' if there's a reputable alternative out there. Does anyone have a go-to vendor for 718 interior bits that they swear by? Specifically, I'm looking for the 1x1 or 2x2 twill weave that actually matches the factory carbon buckets if possible.

Where have you guys had the best luck finding authentic-looking carbon fiber trim for the 718 platform, and are there any specific brands I should absolutely stay away from?

Ok so, I totally get the struggle cuz I was in the same boat last year! I wanted that motorsport vibe without the insane Suncoast Porsche 718 Carbon Fiber Interior Trim Kit prices. Honestly, I went with DB Carbon 718 Dashboard Trim Set and the quality is basically OEM, but still kinda pricey. If you wanna save some cash, check out MA Carbon 718 Center Console Surround... it fits perfect and matches the 2x2 twill weave on my buckets. Just grab some plastic pry tools and go slow, the clips are actually pretty tough! GL!

Honestly, I've tried a few brands over the years and found that MA Carbon 718 Interior Trim is probably the most consistent for that 1x1 weave you're after. I unfortunately had some issues with yellowing on cheaper kits, but MA really holds up. If you're worried about the clips, definitely grab some plastic pry tools and just take it slow... but yeah, the quality difference is actually huge compared to those thin stick-on covers. gl!

Seconding the recommendation above! Ngl DB Carbon is basically the gold standard for quality, but if you're tryna avoid that heavy 'Porsche Tax' while still getting real replacement pieces (NOT stickers lol), I've got a few tips from doing this on my own 718.

1. **Safety first with tools!** Seriously, do NOT use a metal screwdriver. I've been doing this for years and seen so many ruined leather dashes. Grab an ARES 70104 Non-Marring Auto Trim Removal Tool Set for like $20. It's basically essential to pop those clips without snapping them or scratching the trim.
2. **Budget-friendly alternative:** Check out the Rennline Carbon Fiber Interior Trim Kit for 718. It usually runs around $950-$1,100 for the full set, which is a HUGE savings compared to OEM. The 2x2 twill weave is usually a spot-on match for the factory buckets iirc.
3. **The 'Skinning' Route:** Some guys actually buy used trim on eBay and send it to a pro to be wrapped in real carbon fiber. It's often cheaper and since it uses original Porsche cores, the fitment is 100% perfect every time.

Take it slow with the prying and you'll be fine... it's honestly sooo satisfying once it's done. Good luck! 👍

Regarding what #5 said about "Seconding the recommendation above! Ngl DB Carbon is..." - honestly, even the "gold standard" stuff feels like a total rip-off these days. I've been pulling apart interiors since the 987 days and it just gets more frustrating every year.

  • The sheer cost for a few strips of resin and cloth is just offensive. It drives me crazy how companies slap a "Porsche" label on something and suddenly think they can charge the price of a used Honda for a center console kit.
  • Quality control is honestly going downhill across the board. You wait weeks for shipping only to find the weave is crooked or the clear coat has tiny bubbles. It is like they dont even care because they know we are desperate to ditch that boring aluminum.
  • Doing this stuff DIY is a heart attack every single time. Those plastic clips are designed to fail, I swear. I've spent way too many afternoons sweating over my dashboard while trying not to snap a piece that costs half my monthly paycheck. It is a complete scam that we have to deal with such fragile parts on a performance car... it just makes the whole experience way more stressful than it needs to be.
