Hey everyone! I’m super stoked to finally join the club—I just drove home a brand new 2024 Ram ProMaster 2500 with the 159" wheelbase and the high roof. It’s a beautiful blank slate, but honestly, looking at that massive, empty cargo area is a bit intimidating. I’m planning to use this van as a dual-purpose rig: it’ll be my primary mobile workshop for my appliance repair business during the week, and a gear hauler for dirt bikes and camping on the weekends.

Since the ProMaster is front-wheel drive, I really want to take advantage of that ultra-low step-in height and those almost perfectly vertical side walls, which I know is a huge plus over the Transit or Sprinter. However, I want to do this right the first time without turning the back into a rattling mess of disorganized tools. I’m specifically looking for high-quality utility accessories that help with organization and protection.

I’ve been looking into a few specific things: First, what’s the consensus on flooring? The factory metal is so slick, so I’m debating between a custom-fit composite floor like the Legend Fleet or just going the DIY route with horse stall mats. Second, I’m desperate for a solid bulkhead/partition. I need something that’s going to keep the cabin quiet on the highway but maybe has a window so I can peek at my cargo. Lastly, I’ve noticed the stock interior lighting is pretty weak for finding small parts at night, so I’m curious if anyone has found a plug-and-play LED kit that doesn't require hacking into the factory wiring harness.

I’m trying to keep this initial round of upgrades under $2,000 and I’d prefer "no-drill" options where possible to keep the rust away. If you’ve been living out of your ProMaster for a while, what is the one utility accessory you installed that you absolutely couldn't live without now?

yo, congrats on the new van!! honestly, that 159 wheelbase is highkey the dream. I remember when i first got my PM... i just sat in the back for like an hour staring at the empty space trying to figure out where to start lol. I do appliance repair too but i also haul dirt bikes, so i totally get the struggle of keeping it organized but functional for the weekend. since youre trying to keep it under 2k and no-drill, here is what i found works best: 1. **Flooring: Legend Fleet vs DIY**
- I tried the horse stall mat route first... bad idea. They weigh a ton and smell like literal garbage for weeks. I switched to Legend Fleet StabiliGrip Flooring for Ram ProMaster 159 WB and it's amazing. It's grippy so the bikes dont slide, but smooth enough to slide a heavy dryer across. - **Pros:** Perfect fit, realy durable. - **Cons:** Costs about $800-$900, which eats a chunk of ur budget. 2. **Bulkhead: Composite vs Steel**
- You definitely want the Weather Guard 96322-3-01 Composite Bulkhead. I had a steel one before and it was a rattling mess. The composite one keeps the cabin so much quieter on the highway. - **Pros:** Light, keeps the AC in the front, super quiet. - **Cons:** Usually around $600-700. 3. **Lighting**
- For lights, just get the LEDGlow 6pc White LED Cargo Van Interior Lighting Kit. It’s basically plug and play and makes a huge difference at night. Honestly, the one thing i cant live without? US Cargo Control 96 inch L-Track Rail. I mounted it to the walls and floor (used existing holes where i could) and it makes securing the bikes so easy. gl with the build!! peace

I went through this last year when I kitted out my 2500 for field service. Story time: I actually tried the horse stall mat route first but tbh the rubber off-gassing in a closed van during summer was *brutal*. Plus, they're heavy and trapped moisture against the metal floor. I eventually switched to the BedRug VanTred Cargo Mat. It’s basically high-density foam with a TPO coating that levels out those floor ribs perfectly without any drilling. For the partition, I went with the Adrian Steel S1M2C2FSV Steel Header Bulkhead because it bolts into factory holes, keeping the cab quiet. Quick tip: Use the Xprite 48 LED White Truck Bed Interior Light Kit. You can just tap the 12V rear power point so ur not hacking the BCM harness. Lesson learned: dont skip the subfloor... leveling those ribs is key for a rattle-free workshop!

Check out the technical build threads on ProMasterForum.com; they're a lifesaver for no-drill ideas. Honestly, I had issues with my first DIY floor and it was realy disappointing because it trapped moisture and started to smell. Unfortunately, you gotta spend a bit to get quality. I'd suggest the BedRug VanTred Cargo Mat for around $460. It fits the 159" WB perfectly and wont slip around like stall mats. For the partition, the Masterack Steel Partition with Window is about $650—it’s not as quiet as the high-end composites, but it’s way better than nothing. I mean, the stock van is basically a tin can. For lighting, skip the fancy kits and get a few Lumitronics 18-inch LED Light Bar units for $35 each. They're super bright for finding small appliance parts. Basically, you'll be in for about $1,180 total, leaving plenty of budget for dirt bike chocks. Good luck with the new rig!!
