Hey everyone! I’m currently counting down the days until I can get my hands on the new Ram 1500 Ramcharger. The idea of having a battery-electric truck with a built-in gas generator for infinite range is a total game-changer for my lifestyle, but I’m still a bit concerned about maximizing efficiency during long-haul trips. I do a lot of interstate driving and occasionally tow a 7,000lb camper, so I’m looking to prep the truck with the right gear from day one.

I’ve been researching aerodynamic upgrades like low-profile hard tonneau covers to see if they actually provide a noticeable boost to the MPGe. I’m also curious if anyone has recommendations for high-quality, portable Level 2 charging cables that are rugged enough for job sites or remote camping areas. Since this is a unique series-hybrid setup, I’m trying to figure out if specific low-rolling resistance tires are worth the investment or if they compromise the truck's off-road capability too much.

I really want to ensure I'm getting the most out of both the 92-kWh battery and the fuel tank. Does anyone have experience with specific accessories that helped boost their range or charging convenience on similar EREV or EV setups? What would you consider the 'must-have' add-ons for a new Ramcharger owner?

Quick question - before I dive into the tech specs, are you planning to do most of your camper charging while at established RV parks with hookups, or are you looking to rely more on the Ramcharger's onboard generator for remote boondocking? Honestly, the answer changes which budget-friendly gear I'd recommend for you, right? I've been happy with my setup but want to make sure the advice actually fits your specific use case... ngl, towing 7k lbs is a whole different beast than daily driving!

Ok so, I've been tracking the Ramcharger specs since the reveal, and honestly, your concerns about the 7,000lb camper are totally valid. I've spent years towing with EREVs and EVs, and in my experience, the wind is your biggest enemy. You're definitely gonna want a hard cover. I personally swear by the Bak Industries BakFlip MX4 Hard Folding Tonneau Cover because it's low-profile and doesn't catch the air like those soft roll-ups do. It might only give you 1-2% back, but when you're pulling a brick behind you, every little bit helps!!

For charging, dont settle for the cheap stuff. I've used many chargers on job sites, and you need something that wont melt in the sun or short out in the mud. I'd highly recommend the Grizzl-E Ultimate Bundle with 24ft Cable. It's built like a tank and handles the rough environments way better than the standard mobile connectors.

Regarding the tires... honestly, be CAREFUL there. I've tried low-rolling resistance tires like the Michelin Defender LTX M/S2 on my other trucks, and while they're GREAT for MPGe, they can be a bit sketchy on wet boat ramps or muddy camp spots. If you're sticking to the interstate mostly, go for it, but maybe keep a set of traction boards in the bed just in case. Also, if you're doing long hauls, definitely look into the CURT Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller—it's super easy to set up and keeps things stable without hacking up your dash. Good luck with the new rig, it's gonna be a beast! 👍

Honestly, the Ramcharger is such a cool piece of tech, but managing that weight when towing a 7k lbs camper is no joke. I've been tinkering with EREVs for years, and while aero is huge, your charging setup at the job site is what really saves your sanity. For a rugged Level 2 cable, I'd skip the cheap ones and look at the Lectron J1772 NEMA 14-50 40 Amp Level 2 EV Charger—it’s tough as nails for outdoor use.

Regarding tires, low-rolling resistance (LRR) usually kills your grip in the mud. Instead of a pure LRR tire, I'd suggest something like the Bridgestone Alenza AS Ultra—it balances efficiency way better than a standard A/T tire without making the truck feel floaty.

Also, if you're doing long hauls, definitely grab a RetraxPRO XR Hard Tonneau Cover. It’s pricey but the T-slot rails are great for extra gear, and the aero boost is legit. Anyway, hope that helps ur build!! 👍
