Best cargo organizers for a Subaru Ascent with three rows?

Now that we’re using all three rows in our Ascent, there’s hardly any trunk space left. I’m struggling to find a slim organizer that fits behind the rear bench without blocking the liftgate. Does anyone have a specific brand or custom-fit net that handles groceries well in that narrow gap? What’s your favorite setup for keeping things secure back there?

For your situation, basically the key is understanding that the Ascent only has about 17 cubic feet of space behind that third row, and most of that is vertical. Technically, you gotta look at the depth, which is barely 10-12 inches at the floor. In my experience, standard boxy organizers are too thick and will literally trigger the pinch sensor on your liftgate.

I would suggest looking at the Trunk-Mountable Hanging Organizer by Lusso Gear because it straps to the headrests and keeps the floor clear. If you want something on the floor, the Fortem Car Trunk Organizer (Collapsible) is actually pretty solid if you only use one of the sections. Ngl, most "slim" bins are still too wide, so I usually go with the Highland 9501300 Adjustable Cargo Bar combined with some heavy-duty reusable bags. It keeps things from sliding around without taking up permanent space. Just make sure you dont overpack it or the gate wont latch right!!

Respectfully, I'd consider another option because standard nets and those pricey OEM bags honestly underperform when you're loading heavy groceries. I've been driving 3-row SUVs for a decade and honestly, the 'vertical' approach mentioned above just leads to crushed bread and bruised fruit.

I'd actually suggest a different approach—skip the bulky boxes and go for a slim, folding setup. Here's a quick comparison of what actually works for the budget-conscious:

* Starling's Car Trunk Organizer Adjustable 2-Compartment vs Honey-Can-Do Folding Mesh Pop-Up Trunk Organizer: The Starling's is more rugged but can be too thick if you don't compress it right. The Honey-Can-Do Folding Mesh Pop-Up Trunk Organizer is way cheaper and literally disappears when it's empty, which is great cuz that Ascent gap is tiny.

Personally, I find the mesh pop-ups are the best value since they grip the carpet and don't slide. Anyway, just my two cents after wasting too much money on fancy gear that didn't fit. gl!!

Ok so I totally feel u on this. The space behind that third row is literally tiny, so you gotta be careful not to buy anything too bulky or it'll just pop the liftgate open. Honestly, for my Ascent, I've stuck with the Subaru Genuine Cargo Net F551SXC001 because it's designed to fit that exact narrow gap. It's great for groceries, but I'd suggest being careful with heavy stuff cuz those plastic hooks can sometimes snap if u overload them.

Here's what I've found works best:
* The Subaru Cargo Net F551SXC001 for things like milk jugs or bags.
* If u need something more solid, look at the Drive Auto Car Trash Can and Organizer—it's skinny enough to tuck in the corner.
* Make sure to check the clearance before closing the trunk!

I mean, it's a tight squeeze but these should keep your stuff from sliding around. gl! 👍
