I’m looking for a hitch-mounted rack for my new Crosstrek Hybrid, but I’m worried about the extra weight of my ebikes and the ground clearance. Since the Hybrid has a slightly different setup than the standard model, has anyone found a rack that doesn't block the backup camera or interfere with the charging port? What’s your go-to setup?

Quick question—do you know if your Crosstrek has the 1.25-inch or the 2-inch hitch receiver? Tbh, that makes a HUGE difference when you're hauling heavy ebikes because the weight capacity varies a lot between those sizes. Also, what's the total weight of your bikes?

I've tested a few setups on my Hybrid and honestly, the 1UP USA Super Duty Double Rack is a beast for ground clearance since it sits higher, but the Thule T2 Pro XTR 2-Bike Rack is way easier to fold up... just depends on how much weight we're talking about lol! Let me know so I can give you a better recommendation!!

Honestly, I've had a different experience with those pricey brands. If you're looking to save some cash while keeping the ground clearance high, I'd actually suggest a different approach—check out the Hollywood Racks Destination E-Bike Rack. It's way cheaper than those Thule setups but still solid for heavy bikes!

- It’s usually around $500-600 (way better for the wallet!!)
- Built-in ramp helps with the weight
- Sits higher up so you don't scrape on driveways

Just make sure to check your hitch size first like the other person said. I think the hybrid might be 1.25"? Anyway, good luck!

Jumping in here because I've spent way too much time obsessing over this for my own Crosstrek! @Reply #1 - good point about the weight, but honestly if you're hauling two heavy ebikes, I'd stay away from the lighter racks. I know some folks go for the budget options, but for long-term reliability and total peace of mind when you're hitting 70 on the highway, you really want something more heavy-duty. I’m totally obsessed with the RockyMounts GuideRail 2-Bike Hitch Rack. It’s an absolute beast and the build quality is just... wow! It handles 60 lbs per bike easily, so your ebikes are gonna be super secure. The ground clearance is fantastic since it has a nice upward tilt in the design, and it doesn't block my backup camera as much as other racks I've tried. Plus, the no-frame-contact system is a lifesaver for protecting the finish on your bikes. It’s seriously a game changer for Hybrid owners who actually use their hitch! Definitely worth the investment if you want something that'll last forever. You're gonna love how solid it feels!

For your situation, I'd say the Kuat Sherpa 2.0 2-Bike Rack is probably ur best bet if ur trying to balance weight and cost. Honestly, I'm kinda new to the whole ebike thing myself, but I use this one on my Crosstrek and it's super lightweight compared to those massive steel racks. It's only like 32 lbs so it doesnt tank ur gas mileage or mess with the tongue weight too much.

Here are two quick tips for the Hybrid:
- Get a rack with a tilt feature so u can actually reach the charging port without taking everything off.
- Stick to a platform style cuz lifting heavy ebikes onto a hanging rack is basically a workout u dont want lol.

I paid around $600 for mine and it feels like a decent value long-term. It sits high enough that ground clearance isn't a total nightmare on speed bumps, tho the backup camera still gets blocked a bit... i think thats just unavoidable with any hitch rack tbh! gl with the new ride!!
