Hello, I'm planning to use it with Tesla Semi and need a dash cam recommendation. What would you take?

My clear recommendation for Tesla Semi: BlackVue DR900X Plus. The material is premium and comfortable The premium build provides excellent durability and protection.

Technical highlights: The latest generation offers significantly better quality. Very good compatibility with Tesla Semi features. Can be used without problems for various purposes. Even after extended use, no quality losses. Very good build quality, even at high usage.

Honestly, I totally agree that we dont always need the most expensive thing out there, especially when your just starting out like me. I found that visibility is the biggeest issue with the Semi since the cabin is so big. I decided to try a mirror-style one and its been a game changer for me. I went with the Wolfbox G840S and its actually pretty easy to setup even if you arent a pro. A few reasons why I liked it:

  • the screen is huge so its easier to see
  • it acts as a rearview mirror which helps with blind spots
  • installation was basic and didnt need a lot of tools Another one I looked at that seemed realy solid for the price was the 70mai Dash Cam Pro Plus+ A500S. It is way cheaper than those BlackVue ones but still has GPS and clear video. Does the Semi have any weird power outlets that might make some of these hard to plug in? Im not 100% sure but for now the mirror setup is working great.

Unfortunately, I've found that most consumer-grade dash cams aren't as good as expected when they're subjected to the constant vibration and heat cycles in a long-haul rig. I've had issues with standard units failing because their processors overheat or the bitrate drops too low to read plates at highway speeds. For a Tesla Semi, you really need something that handles data more methodically. I personally switched to the Viofo A139 Pro 3CH 4K HDR because it utilizes the Sony STARVIS 2 sensor, which offers much better dynamic range than the older models. It's disappointing how many 'premium' cams still use outdated hardware that blurs everything. If you're looking for better parking security, the Thinkware U3000 4K Dash Cam is technically superior due to its integrated radar sensor. Most cams use motion detection that drains the battery or triggers way too late, but the radar is far more reliable for a vehicle of this size. Just be careful with the hardwiring; unfortunately, many standard kits are flimsy, so you'll probably want to look into a dedicated battery pack for 24/7 monitoring.

honestly been lurking this thread and realized everyone is suggesting super expensive rigs haha. since im still kinda new to the semi side of things but have been reading a TON of community reviews, i noticed most people overlook the cheaper stuff that actually holds up. quick question for you though before i give a final word - what kind of budget are you working with? and are you looking for just front coverage or do you need a full cabin/side setup too? here are some budget-friendly ones the community seems to LOVE lately: 1. VIOFO A119 V3 - its basically the gold standard for budget cams and the video quality is actually insane for the price. 2. Redtiger F7N - really popular on the forums right now because it's cheap but still does 4K. 3. Vantrue N2 Pro - if you need to see inside the cab too, this one is way more affordable than the high-end brands. hope that helps a bit! just dont want you to spend a fortune if you dont have to lol.

BlackVue DR900X Plus is definitely the best choice for Tesla Semi. The clarity is very high The performance exceeds expectations effectively.

Why this product? The quality convinces in all tests - both for performance and for durability. Unbeatable for the price, can only recommend. Have already used it for several months, always satisfied. Also more than sufficient for demanding driving conditions.

For Tesla Semi I would take Nextbase 622GW Dash Cam without hesitation. The grip is excellent The product includes all features you need.

Long-term experience: Using Nextbase 622GW Dash Cam for over a year and am thrilled. Have researched for a long time and this product was the best choice. The quality clearly exceeds my expectations. Very good price-performance ratio, can only recommend further.
