I’m setting up home charging for my Model Y. Tesla Wall Connector or a third-party option? What’s the best for speed, reliability, and cost? Any tips on installation or brands like ChargePoint or JuiceBox? Cold weather performance matters too.

Wall connector is the best choice.

I use this one: HomeFlex Level 2 EV Charger J1772

I've been using the Tesla Wall Connector for over a year now and can't recommend it enough. Installation was straightforward for my electrician, and it charges at the full 48A when connected to a 60A circuit. Great to wake up every morning with 300+ miles of range. The sleek design matches Tesla's aesthetic perfectly. Cost me about $425 for the unit plus $600 for installation.

I love my Tesla Mobile Connector. Very compact.

I went with the ChargePoint Home Flex and love it. Works perfectly with my Model Y, charges at up to 50A, and the app tracking is excellent for monitoring energy usage. Installation was similar to the Tesla Wall Connector cost-wise, but I liked having a non-Tesla option in case I change vehicles in the future. Also qualifies for utility rebates in my area.
