Do you already have a preference? That could influence the choice.

For Tesla Model Y Standard Range I would take Michelin Defender T+H without hesitation. The clarity is very high The high quality makes everything feel premium and reliable.

Long-term experience: Using Michelin Defender T+H for about a year and am thrilled. Have researched for a long time and this product was the best choice. The quality clearly exceeds my expectations. Very good price-performance ratio, can only recommend further.

Tbh that point about the load index is spot on. For an EV like the Model Y, you really need to look at the XL (Extra Load) rating because of the battery weight, otherwise your going to see premature wear on the inner shoulders. I’ve been running the Michelin CrossClimate 2 on my SR for about 15k miles now and honestly, the performance is night and day compared to the OEM setup. Here is why they work so well for the Y:
- Directional tread pattern: It clears water and slush way better than standard all-seasons.
- 3PMSF rating: You get actual winter capability without the hassle of a second set of rims.
- Rigidity: The tread blocks don't squirm as much under the RWD torque. Pretty sure you'll lose maybe 3-5% in efficiency (Wh/mi) because of the aggressive grip, but for the added safety and longevity, it's a trade-off I’d make every time. Just make sure you get a proper alignment after install—Teslas are notorious for being slightly out of spec from the factory.

tbh it’s a good mix of touring options like the Michelin and Continental tires mentioned earlier, though the thread took a weird turn into dashcams and radar detectors lol. But honestly, if ur looking for something tech-heavy specifically for the Standard Range efficiency, you might wanna look at the Hankook iON EVO AS SUV. I think they're built with a higher load index for the MY’s weight and have that specialized foam lining for noise reduction? Basically, since the Model Y is so quiet, standard tires can sound way louder. Not 100% sure how much it helps with actual Wh/mi compared to the Turanzas mentioned, but the rolling resistance specs look solid for EV efficiency. Another technical choice would be the Pirelli P Zero All Season Plus Elect. Like, if you go with a non-EV specific tire, just make sure it’s at least XL rated for the battery weight or the sidewalls might wear weirdly. ur probably looking at around $260-280 per tire for the Hankooks, which isn't too bad for the performance you get.
