Hey everyone! I finally took delivery of my new Tesla Model Y last week, and while I absolutely love the minimalist aesthetic, I’m quickly realizing that it might be a bit *too* bare-bones for daily life. After just a few commutes, I've noticed that the center console is basically a giant, dark abyss where my keys and sunglasses disappear, so I’m definitely looking for some high-quality drawer organizers to keep things tidy.

I’m also a bit concerned about protecting the interior long-term. I live in an area that gets quite a bit of rain and mud, so all-weather floor mats are high on my priority list. I’ve looked at the official Tesla ones, but they’re pretty expensive—are the third-party versions like 3D MAXpider or Tesmanian actually worth the hype? Also, for those of you in warmer climates, do you find a glass roof sunshade is a 'must-have' or can the cabin overheat easily during the summer?

I want to keep the cabin looking sleek without cluttering it up with useless gadgets. Beyond the basics, what are the absolute essential interior accessories that actually improved your driving experience or helped keep the car clean? I’d love to hear your favorite brand recommendations and any tips for a first-time owner!

For your situation, I've gotta jump in because I spent way too much time obsessing over the technical specs of these accessories when I got my Y. Since you're dealing with rain and mud, I would suggest looking at 3D MAXpider Kagu All-Weather Floor Mats for Tesla Model Y over the official ones. Honestly, the Tesla ones are just rebranded WeatherTechs and they're kinda stiff. The MAXpider ones have this carbon fiber texture that looks way more premium and they literally don't move an inch because of the "Maxpider" backing. Another solid alternative is TuxMat Tesla Model Y Custom Fit Floor Mats—they provide way more coverage on the sides, which is a lifesaver if you're actually tracking in mud.

Regarding the heat, the glass roof is basically a giant radiator in the summer. I'm pretty sure you'll want a shade. Instead of the basic mesh ones, maybe look into the Vancruiser Tesla Model Y Retractable Sunshade. It's a bit of an install, but it feels integrated into the car and you don't have to store a giant mesh pancake in your trunk when you don't want it.

One thing people always forget is the screen! Be careful with the glare... I'd highkey recommend the Spigen Tempered Glass Screen Protector Glas.tR EZ Fit for Tesla Model Y in the matte finish. It cuts the reflection from the roof and prevents those nasty fingerprints that show up every time you touch the nav. It's a bit pricey for glass but the alignment tool makes it impossible to mess up. Hope that helps keep the new ride clean!! 👍

Just sharing my experience: I went through this last year and honestly, I was trying to save every penny. I ended up comparing a few budget setups because those official prices are wild.

1. LDARC Tesla Model Y Floor Mats vs. TuxMat Tesla Model Y Floor Mats: I tried the cheaper LDARC ones first but honestly, the TuxMat covers way more carpet for just a bit more money. Best value for rain.
2. Hansshow Tesla Model Y Glass Roof Sunshade: I live in Vegas and this was a lifesaver for the cabin heat. Way cheaper than the OEM one and stays put.

Basically, dont feel like u gotta buy the big brands to get good quality!

> I want to keep the cabin looking sleek without cluttering it up with useless gadgets. Im still pretty new to the Tesla world, but I spent my whole first weekend looking at DIY protection vs. paying for a pro service to keep that sleek look. Honestly, if you want to avoid scratches on the center console without adding bulky covers, a vinyl wrap is the way to go. I compared EV Wraps Tesla Model Y Center Console Wrap against just buying those snap-on plastic covers. - **Wrap:** It keeps the original lines and looks totally stock. Pros: basically invisible protection and VERY cheap. Cons: it is kind of a pain to align perfectly if youre not handy, right? - **Covers:** Like the Satori Accent Interior Trim Covers. Pros: super easy to just pop on. Cons: they add a bit of thickness that might make the sliding door feel less 'smooth' according to the specs I read. Also, if you have white seats, maybe look into a DIY ceramic coating like Gyeon Q2 LeatherShield? Its a lot cheaper than a pro detailer. I havent tried it yet because I'm nervous about the application, but the technical data says it prevents dye transfer from jeans. Does anyone know if the cure time is really 24 hours?

Sooo, congrats on the new Model Y! Honestly, that "black hole" center console is a rite of passage for all of us lol. I'm a bit of a nerd when it comes to specs and fitment, so I spent way too much time researching this stuff when I got mine.

Here's what I recommend based on my own setup: For the abyss, you definitely want the Spigen Glas.tR Center Console Organizer Tray. It's got a great velvet-like finish so things dont rattle around, and the sliding mechanism feels super premium.

For the mats, I actually compared a few. The official Tesla ones are fine, but I went with the 3D MAXpider KAGU Series All-Weather Floor Mats. They use a thermoplastic rubber that's way lighter than the Tesmanian Tesla Model Y Floor Mats, and the fit is basically laser-perfect. If you're dealing with serious mud, the 3D MAXpider ones have these high walls that actually trap the gunk better than the flat OEM style.

Regarding the sunshade, if you're in a place like SoCal or AZ, it's lowkey a necessity. I noticed about a 10-15 degree drop in cabin temp after installing the Basenor Tesla Model Y Glass Roof Sunshade with UV/Heat Insulation Cover. The glass has great UV protection, but the IR heat soak is real during summer.

Anyway, welcome to the club! The minimalist vibe is cool but a few tweaks definitely make it more livable. gl with the new whip! 👍

Honestly, as a new owner myself, I'm sooo excited for you!! For safety, I’d HIGHLY suggest getting some mud flaps from a brand like Basenor or Rally Armor. They basically protect your paint from flying debris, which is a total lifesaver in the rain! Also, a screen protector is a must so you don't crack that expensive display. Just get any tempered glass one from Spigen and ur good. Safety first always! 👍
