Finally got my beast delivered and honestly I’m stoked to get it dirty. Ive been wheeling built-out Tacomas for over a decade so I know my way around a trail but this whole EV platform is a totally different ballgame when it comes to weight distribution and that crazy steer-by-wire setup.

Im heading out to Moab in like three weeks and I really need to beef it up before I smash those rocker panels on something nasty. I have about 5k set aside for immediate upgrades but the market is still kinda thin. Are there any solid rock sliders or heavy duty skid plates that actually fit right without messing with the sensors? Also wondering about winch mounts since the front end is so weirdly shaped...

Congrats on the delivery man. I've spent a decade dragging various rigs through Hell's Revenge, and honestly, the Cybertruck is a whole different beast because of that weight. In my experience, the biggest mistake people make is thinking the factory armor is actually armor. It's really just splash guarding. When I took my first heavy EV out, I learned the hard way that 7,000 pounds coming down on a rock will slice through thin aluminum like butter. For Moab, you definitely want to prioritize the belly and the rockers first. Since youre on a 5k budget, focus on the stuff that prevents a total loss. Tbh, the rockers are the most exposed part of the truck besides the battery itself.

  • Unplugged Performance Invincible Rock Sliders Heavy Duty Steel
  • These are legit. I've seen these take a full hit and they dont budge. They protect the battery edge which is the most vulnerable spot when you're high-centered.
  • T Sportline Cybertruck Front Skid Plate Stainless Steel
  • Solid upgrade over the factory bits. Its way thicker and handles a nose-dive way better than the stock plates.
  • Unplugged Performance Cybertruck Winch Bumper High Strength Steel
  • If you really need a winch, this is the cleanest way to do it without messing up the cooling vents or blocking the front cameras. Honestly, the steer-by-wire is actually a blessing in the rocks because you dont get that nasty kickback in the steering wheel, but you gotta be careful not to over-rotate since the ratio changes. Stick to the steel armor first and maybe hold off on the winch if the budget gets tight... the sliders are way more important for Moab since those stainless panels are so expensive to fix if you crunch 'em.

Saw your post today and man, I am genuinely stoked for you! Moab is going to be an absolute blast in that beast. I have spent the last few months doing a deep dive into the technical specs of the frame because that massive curb weight changes everything. On my last outing, I realized that the sheer force on the rocker panels during a breakover is intense. You need hardware that distributes that energy across multiple mounting points to protect the battery casing. Here are a few things I've found to be fantastic for real-world trail use:
