Hey everyone! I recently picked up a 300 Series Land Cruiser, and while I absolutely love the rig, I’m already starting to worry about the paint and bodywork. I’ve been taking it out on some gravel fire roads and light trails over the weekends, and every time I hear a stone kick up and clatter against the rocker panels or the rear quarters, I cringe a little bit.

The stock guards seem okay for highway driving, but they feel a bit flimsy and don't offer much coverage once you've got some chunkier all-terrain tires on there. I’m really looking for something that provides better protection against mud, slush, and especially those nasty flying rocks that cause chips and eventual rust.

I’ve been looking at a few different options, but I'm torn. I’ve seen some heavy-duty rubber flaps that look like they’d take a beating, but I’m worried about them being too rigid and potentially getting ripped off if I have to reverse through some deep ruts or thick mud. On the other hand, the molded plastic ones look sleek and match the body lines well, but I’m not sure if they’ll hold up to the abuse of real off-roading.

My main constraints are that I don’t want to do any major drilling into the metal if I can avoid it, and I’d like something that doesn't look totally out of place on a daily driver. I’m willing to spend a bit more for quality—maybe around $150 to $250 for a full set—if it means they’ll actually last and keep the sides of the Cruiser clean.

Has anyone here installed aftermarket flaps like Rally Armor, WeatherTech, or maybe some of the ARB/Old Man Emu compatible sets? I’d love to hear what you’re using, how the installation went, and if they’ve actually saved your paint from the gravel rash.

What specific brands or models would you recommend for maximum protection without sacrificing too much ground clearance or aesthetics?

Check out Husky Liners 56931 Custom Molded Mud Guards—they're way cheaper than boutique brands, around $100 for a set, and honestly do a solid job protecting the paint without breaking the bank! 🚙

In my experience, you should definitely check out TeraFlex Nomad Off-Road Mud Flaps. They're great because the rubber is thick enough to stop rocks but has a quick-disconnect feature so you won't rip them off in deep ruts! Honestly, it's a lifesaver for the 300 Series paint.

Hey! Congrats on the new 300 Series! Honestly, I totally get the cringing feeling—those rock chips are the absolute worst on a brand-new rig. Just a quick warning first: stay away from the super stiff, molded plastic guards if you're hitting trails. If you bottom out or reverse into a rock, they can actually crack or even rip your fender liner right out since they don't flex!

I’m still pretty new to the LC world, but I recently installed Rally Armor Mud Flaps for Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series and I love them! They cost me about $170, which fits your budget perfectly. Since they’re made of flexible polyurethane, they bend easily over obstacles but still block all that gravel. Installation was amazing—no drilling into the metal at all! They look super sleek as a daily driver too. Definitely better than the flimsy stock ones! Hope this helps!
