Im trying to find a reliable Toyota Corolla because I start a new job in three weeks and my old Civic just died on me. I live near the downtown area and I really need to stay under $8,000 for something that isnt gonna break down immediately.
I looked at a few dealerships but they are charging like $12k for 2012 models which feels insane. I also checked FB marketplace and saw some cheaper ones for like 5k but the descriptions are so vague and people keep mentioning salvage titles in the comments even when the ad says clean. Is there a specific local lot or maybe a site besides Craigslist that actually has fair prices for used Toyotas around here?
tbh 12k for a 2012 is highway robbery. in my experience, you gotta get away from the city center to find anything decent under 8k. over the years ive learned to skip the big lots and use AutoTrader to hunt for private sellers instead. i eventually found a solid Toyota Corolla 2011 LE that way for 7500. those small suburb lots are way cheaper.
Building on the earlier suggestion, I totally agree about avoiding city lots. You might want to consider looking for a Toyota Corolla 2009 LE 1.8L since they usually sit right in your budget. Just be careful and make sure to:
