Depends on what exactly you want to improve on Toyota Mirai. Performance or comfort?

Honestly I spent way too much time looking at the material specs for this and finally went with the 3D MAXpider Kagu Cargo Liner because the fitment is super precise around the fuel tank hump and the technical specs on the multi-layer design seemed way better for vibration. It uses this weird fiber backing that basically grips the carpet fibers so it doesnt slide around at all and its way lighter than those heavy industrial rubber mats which helps with the whole weight efficiency vibe anyway.

  • Look for something with XPE foam layers to help with road noise since the Mirai is so quiet already
  • Make sure it has a high edge because the trunk floor is pretty shallow and stuff slides easy Since the car is basically silent you really notice if a hard plastic liner starts rattling back there so these semi-rigid ones are definitely the way to go for the long run so you dont lose that premium feel.

Honestly, it’s pretty funny how the thread got derailed into dash cams lol. When I was looking for a liner for this car, I went down a total rabbit hole because the trunk layout is so weird with the hydrogen tank hump. I spent a lot of time reading through technical forums and checking out community reviews to see what actually holds up in the real world. Most people in the groups seem to lean towards the WeatherTech Cargo Liner because they use laser scanning for the fit, which is crucial for that specific floor geometry. But like, I actually found that the material density on the Husky Liners WeatherBeater was pretty interesting too for long-term wear. I ended up choosing the Genuine Toyota All-Weather Cargo Tray because of the specific lip height. From a technical standpoint, if you get a spill, you need that tray depth to prevent liquid from seeping into the battery vent areas. It took me a while to decide, but the OEM fit just felt more secure for the trunk area. Hope that helps actually answer the original question!

Regarding what #10 said about "> Looking for the best cargo liner for..."

  • I want to offer a word of caution for anyone looking at budget options. In my experience, the biggest mistake is going with a "universal" trim-to-fit mat. I've tried many over the years and they just dont work with the Mirai trunk. Because of the hydrogen tank elevation, those generic mats never sit flat and they end up sliding into the latch area. I've seen people buy thin, floppy rubber mats that look okay at first, but they eventually curl at the edges under high heat. This can actually interfere with the trunk seal and lead to moisture getting where it shouldn't. You definitely want to avoid any material that feels too greasy or light. If it doesn't have a solid, semi-rigid structure, it's gonna be a headache. Safety-wise, a shifting liner is just annoying, but one that blocks your trunk from closing properly is a real problem. Stick to high-walled options and stay away from the cheap PVC stuff... it just isn't worth the savings.

For Toyota Mirai I would also consider the brand. Do you need OEM or aftermarket?
