Had a minute to look into this more. Before diving into hardware recommendations, which generation or year is your Crown? Honestly makes a massive difference because of how Toyota integrated the tech over the years. Couple of things to be really careful about:

  • The HVAC controls. If you have the touchscreen model, the AC is often tied directly into the head unit software. Rip it out without a proper bypass, and you lose your climate control entirely.
  • Factory amplified systems. A lot of these come with proprietary amps. If you dont use the right digital interface, youll get nasty ground loop noise or just no sound at all.
  • Dashboard fitment. Some years use a non-standard shape that needs a very specific trim kit to not look like a total hack job. I remember helping a buddy with his 13th gen a while back. We thought it was a simple swap but the wiring was a maze because of the factory navigation and reverse camera integration. We almost fried a harness trying to tap into the wrong lead. Just want to make sure you dont brick your interior functions before you start buying parts.
