Are there any storage bins for the ID.4 front trunk?

I’m looking to reclaim some of that wasted space under the hood of my ID.4. Since it didn’t come with a factory frunk, I’d love to find a bin specifically for my charging cables and emergency kit. Has anyone found an aftermarket option that fits well and won't interfere with the internal components? Any brands you'd recommend?

Honestly, since the ID.4 has high-voltage cables under there, you gotta be careful about what you toss in. Check out Wundermix WunderFrunk for VW ID.4—it's a solid resource because it's designed to keep everything contained and away from the sensitive bits. Pro tip: whatever you get, make sure its secured tight so it doesnt rattle or rub against the cooling lines. Safety first, right? 👍

I was *so* annoyed with that wasted space too! I finally found a bin from a company like Frunk.at and honestly, it’s been a lifesaver for my messy charging cables. It basically just drops right in and fits perfectly. Before I suggest a specific brand tho, what's your budget looking like? Also, are you wanting a heavy-duty plastic bin or something more lightweight? I’m still kinda new to these mods but super happy with mine so far!

Not to disagree, but I'd actually suggest a different approach than those expensive custom bins. I tried a 3D-printed frunk and unfortunately, it was a total letdown—too flimsy for the price.

I mean, why pay $200+ for plastic? Honestly, I just use a Rola 59100 M.O.V.E. Rigid Base Interior Organizer tucked under there.

* Way cheaper
* Fits my cables and kit easily
* Easier to pull out for maintenance

But yeah, the wasted space is seriously annoying lol.

Regarding what #5 said about "Commenting to find later"

  • I did exactly that for months while reading about the various custom kits and budget organizers. There is definitely a divide between the guys who want a plug-and-play kit and those who prefer a cheaper fix, but the safety point about the cooling lines is the most critical part of the whole discussion. I eventually decided to go the DIY route to get exactly what I wanted. I am very satisfied with how my current setup turned out after some trial and error in the driveway:
  • I found a rugged, weather-resistant bin that fit the bay dimensions.
  • I used some heavy-duty industrial velcro and custom brackets to keep it from moving.
  • I made sure to leave plenty of clearance for the high-voltage cables. It works well and gives me a lot of peace of mind. No complaints at all after using it for several long trips. If you have the patience to measure everything out, doing it yourself is a solid alternative to the retail bins.

  • I totally get why people wait to see what works! Safety is the biggest factor when you have owned this car as long as I have. If you want a setup that is actually engineered for the car, I highly recommend the EV-Accessories VW ID.4 Frunk Storage Box. It is seriously fantastic and fits like a glove without messing with the thermal management. I love it because it uses custom brackets to stay elevated. This is huge because it keeps the bin away from the hot components and ensures the fans can still breathe. Most people dont realize that airflow under there is pretty specific. I keep my Lectron 240V 16 Amp Level 2 EV Charger and a first aid kit in mine. It stays bone dry even in heavy rain which is a massive win. Trust me, once you move those messy cables out of your trunk and into a dedicated frunk bin, you will never go back! It makes the car feel way more complete.
