I’m so excited to finally take my new ID. Buzz out for a weekend trip! Since the interior is so modular, I’m looking for must-have gear. Specifically, does anyone recommend a custom-fit mattress or blackout thermal window shades that fit perfectly? I want to keep it cozy but organized. What are your top interior accessory recommendations for a comfortable night's sleep?

Story time: I went through this last year when I first got my Buzz, and honestly, my biggest worry was safety. I’ve seen people use cheap window covers that just fall off in the middle of the night, which is literally a nightmare if you're stealth camping! I ended up testing two different setups. First, I tried the Project Camper VW ID. Buzz Magnetic Thermal Window Blinds vs. a generic suction cup set. The magnetic ones are soooo much better because they dont leave marks and they actually stay put, keeping you hidden and safe. For the bed, I compared a thick memory foam topper against the Exped MegaMat Auto Self-Inflating Sleep Pad. While the foam felt okay, the Exped was highkey more reliable because it fits the floor contours perfectly without blocking the emergency door releases. Safety-first is my motto, and having a clear path to the doors while staying warm is basically everything. gl with the new van!!

Hey, congrats on the Buzz! Honestly, I was sooo hyped for mine but I’ve had some *frustrating* nights already. I tried a generic pad and it was a total disaster, literally zero support. I ended up getting the Duo-Comfort Mattress for VW ID. Buzz and it fits the modular floor perfectly, though it’s kinda pricey for what it is. For the windows, I highkey recommend Brandrup ISOLITE Extreme Window Covers for ID. Buzz. They actually stay put, unlike the cheap suction ones I first bought that kept falling off in the middle of the night. It’s not perfect, but it’s way better than my first attempt lol. Good luck!

Hmm, I've had a different experience when it comes to those super expensive custom mattresses. Honestly, I think people overcomplicate the ID. Buzz setup because it's new. Instead of dropping a fortune on a custom foam block that takes up ALL your storage space, I'd actually suggest a different approach—go with a high-quality self-inflating mat. In my experience, something like the Nemo Roamer Double Self-Inflating Sleeping Pad is way more practical. It's basically as comfy as a real bed but it actually DEFLATES so ur not driving around with a giant marshmallow in the back, right?

Also, for the windows, skip the generic suction cup shades. They ALWAYS fall off at 3 AM. I've tried many over the years and the WeatherTech SunShade Full Vehicle Kit for Volkswagen ID. Buzz is basically the gold standard for a perfect friction fit. It keeps it pitch black and helps with the thermal regulation since the Buzz has so much glass. Plus, they're way easier to wipe down if things get steamy lol. What's ur budget looking like for the whole build? peace

Honestly, I've spent years camping in vans and learned the hard way that pricey isn't always better. For my Buzz, I actually kept it simple to save cash.

I totally agree with the self-inflating pad idea mentioned earlier—it’s a game changer for storage!

My top tips:
- Use a basic leveling kit so you don't roll around
- Grab some cheap magnetic hooks for the metal bits
- DIY window covers work fine if you're on a budget

Basically, don't overspend until you've actually slept in it once or twice. Enjoy the new ride! haha
