I just recently joined the VW family with a brand new Taos, and I am absolutely loving the drive so far. However, I am already starting to worry about keeping the interior looking pristine. Since this is going to be my daily driver for commuting and the occasional weekend camping trip, I know it is only a matter of time before dirt, spills, and general wear start taking a toll on the cabin.

I have been looking at a few different options but I am feeling a bit overwhelmed by the variety. I definitely need some solid all-weather floor mats because I live in an area that gets quite a bit of mud and rain. I am also considering a cargo liner for the back to protect the carpet from my outdoor gear. One specific thing that is bugging me is the infotainment screen; it seems like such a fingerprint magnet, so I am wondering if anyone has found a screen protector that actually fits well and reduces glare.

I have seen the official VW accessories, but they are a bit pricey. I am curious if aftermarket brands like WeatherTech or TuxMat offer a better fit for the Taos specifically. I want things that look integrated and high-quality rather than cheap universal covers.

What are the best interior protective accessories you have found for your Taos that offer the best balance of durability and style?

yo, i totally feel u on this! i just got my Taos and honestly, i was sooo stressed about the mud. here is what i found:

  • WeatherTech FloorLiner vs TuxMat Volkswagen Taos
  • Spigen Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Volkswagen Taos WeatherTech is basically indestructible but looks kinda industrial. TuxMat is way more stylish and covers every inch of carpet. Best choice for me was the TuxMat plus that Spigen glass for those screen fingerprints. lowkey best upgrades ive done so far! gl!

Yo, coming back to this thread because I went through this exact same headache last year... honestly, the official VW prices are literally insane. I wanted that integrated look without spending a fortune, but I also learned the hard way that going too cheap is just a waste of money. Just sharing my experience:

  • Floor Mats: I initially tried some universal ones to save cash. Big mistake. They slid around and actually made driving kinda annoying. I eventually swapped them for SMARTLINER All Weather Custom Fit Floor Mats for Volkswagen Taos. They are way more affordable than the brands mentioned earlier but the fit is still solid. They arent as plush as some other high-end ones, but for mud and rain, they do the job perfectly.
  • Cargo Area: For my weekend trips, I picked up the MuddyBuddy Cargo Liner for Volkswagen Taos. Unfortunately, it was a bit pricier than I liked, but after a gallon of milk leaked back there, I was so glad I had it. It is basically the same as the OEM one but it feels a bit more rugged for outdoor gear.
  • Screen Protector: I tried a cheap film one first, but it was a nightmare to install. Idk why they make it so hard. I settled on the RUIYA Volkswagen Taos 8-Inch Center Touch Screen Protector after seeing people complain about others. It helps with scratches, but tbh, the glare is still kinda there. Not as good as I expected, but better than nothing I guess?? Basically, if ur on a budget, stick to custom-fit aftermarket stuff rather than universal junk. It will save u a lot of stress in the long run. Gl with the new ride!! peace

Late to the party but i feel u on the fingerprints... it is actually so annoying. Before i give advice, can u clarify if u have the 6.5-inch or the 8-inch screen? I unfortunately had issues with Vancool Matte Screen Protector for Volkswagen Taos 8-Inch (too blurry) vs glass, but Husky Liners WeatherBeater Floor Mats for Volkswagen Taos are definitely less industrial than WeatherTech and better than OEM for a middle ground choice!!

So basically the consensus is that the brands already mentioned, like TuxMat for style or WeatherTech for durability, are your best bets over the expensive dealer options. Just double check your screen size first! Quick questions for ya:

  • do you have pets or kids riding along?
  • what is ur total budget? Be realy careful about mats sliding near the pedals... thats why custom fit is a must for safety. gl!
