I just picked up a new Volkswagen Taos and I’m already noticing how much road salt and debris the tires kick up onto the side panels. I’m looking for the best mud flap recommendations to protect the paint without ruining the car's sleek look. I’ve looked at the OEM ones from the dealership, but they seem a bit pricey. Has anyone tried third-party options like WeatherTech or RokBlokz? I'm specifically curious about the fitment around the wheel well trim and how easy the installation is for someone who isn't super handy. Do you guys prefer the rigid molded style or the flexible splash guards for daily driving? Let me know what’s worked best for your Taos!

Seconding the recommendation above! Honestly, I had a pretty bad experience with some cheap generic ones that basically cracked after one winter. If ur looking for something better than the OEM stuff, here's a quick technical comparison based on what I've tried:

- WeatherTech MudFlaps for Volkswagen Taos: These are great cuz they're laser-measured for a perfect fit around the wheel well trim. They're a rigid molded style, so they look super sleek and almost factory. Installation is a breeze, no drilling required usually.
- RokBlokz Mud Flaps for Volkswagen Taos: These are more of a flexible splash guard. Ngl, they're better if you actually deal with heavy snow or mud because they wont snap if you bottom out.

I'd probably go with WeatherTech for daily driving tho, since they keep that 'sleek' look you mentioned. Good luck!

Sooo I totally feel u on the road salt struggle!! I just went through this with my own Taos and honestly, I couldn't justify the dealership prices either. For your situation, I would suggest looking at some of the high-quality third-party options that wont break the bank but still look clean.

Here's what I recommend based on my own trial and error:

- I ended up grabbing the WeatherTech MudFlaps for Volkswagen Taos and they're actually solid. They cost way less than OEM (around $80-100 for the set) and the fitment is basically perfect with the wheel well trim.
- If youre looking for something even cheaper, I've seen the A-Premium Splash Guards for 2022-2024 Volkswagen Taos on Amazon for like $30-40. They're surprisingly decent for a budget pick!
- Installation was literally a breeze. Most of these use the existing screw holes, so you don't even have to drill into your new car, which is a huge relief if you aren't super handy right?

Personally, I prefer the rigid molded ones like the Husker Auto Parts VW Taos Splash Guards because they blend into the body lines better than the flappy rally style ones. Plus, they're easier to keep clean from all that salt. Good luck with the new ride! 👍

TL;DR: Go for a flexible style to avoid damage.

IIRC, someone mentioned RokBlokz can be tricky if you're not handy, so i guess maybe stick to something with a no-drill setup?? Honestly, I'm pretty paranoid about those rigid molded ones... if you hit a curb or deep snow, they can actually crack your fender trim. I'd highkey suggest flexible ones for safety. It's way better for the car's longevity, even if it looks a bit more rugged than sleek. peace!
