Finally got my hands on a 2023 Mk8 GTI last week and Im obsessed. I live in the Pacific Northwest though so the rain is already becoming an issue with the interior. Ive been looking at those WeatherTech mats online because everyone says theyre the gold standard but they look kinda ugly and bulky in the photos? I also saw stuff about the OBDeleven dongle for changing light settings and stuff but Im honestly scared of breaking something or messing up my warranty since the car is brand new. Im mostly just using it for my 30 minute commute and grocery runs so I dont need a track setup. What are the actual daily essentials you guys swear by?

Honestly, Ive had zero luck with cheap universal accessories lately. Its so disappointing when stuff doesnt fit right or just breaks. For the PNW rain, I basically prioritize safety and visibility over tech stuff.

Unfortunately the OEM trunk carpet is pretty flimsy and absorbs PNW humidity too easily. I had issues with generic liners sliding since they lack proper friction backing. The 3D MAXpider KAGU All-Weather Cargo Liner for VW Golf Mk8 is a solid budget move. It utilizes laser-measured 3D fitment data for a 100% precise fit. It looks much sleeker than those bulky mats you saw... honestly saves you cash compared to dealer extras.

I would suggest TuxMat Custom Floor Mats for Volkswagen Golf Mk8 for superior coverage. Be careful with the screens; you might want to consider Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit Screen Protector for Mk8 Golf.
