Hey everyone! I recently took delivery of my Audi Q4 e-tron, and while I absolutely love the driving experience and the minimalist cockpit design, I can’t help but feel like the interior is a bit too 'dark' at night. My build didn't come with the higher-level multi-color contour lighting package, so I'm stuck with the basic white LEDs, and it just doesn't feel as premium as I’d like for a car of this caliber.
I’ve been scouring the web for aftermarket ambient lighting kits that specifically fit the Q4 e-tron’s unique door panels and floating center console. I’m looking for something that integrates cleanly—ideally, I want to avoid that 'tacked-on' look where you can see the light strips during the day. I’ve seen some universal fiber optic kits on Amazon, but I’m worried about the fitment around the Q4's specific geometric lines and whether they can be powered via the 12V socket or if I need to tap into the door wiring.
My main goals are to find a kit that offers a wide range of RGB colors (controllable via a decent app) and, most importantly, something that mimics the OEM 'wrap-around' feel. I’m also curious if anyone has found a kit that syncs up with the existing MMI system, though I know that might be a stretch for an aftermarket part. Budget-wise, I’m willing to spend around $200–$400 for a high-quality setup that won't rattle or look cheap.
Has anyone here successfully installed an ambient lighting upgrade in their Q4 e-tron? If so, which brand or specific kit did you go with, and how difficult was the installation process regarding the door panels and dashboard trim?
