We just upgraded to a Q7 for our family road trips, but with two kids and all their gear, the cabin is getting crowded fast! I’m looking for the best roof box options and interior organizers that actually fit the Audi’s dimensions. Does anyone have specific recommendations for heavy-duty floor mats or seat protectors that don't look cheap? What are your top 'essential' storage upgrades for keeping things tidy on long hauls?
I went through this last year. I was basically terrified of my heavy strollers shifting and hitting the kids during a sudden stop, so I looked into it from a safety-first perspective. I ended up getting the Audi Q7 Genuine Luggage Compartment Divider and a TuxMat Audi Q7 Floor Mat Set.
Sooo here is why I liked them:
* Safety: The divider literally keeps heavy gear from flying into the cabin.
* Coverage: TuxMat covers more area than standard liners.
It was a bit pricey but worth it for peace of mind...
Just sharing my experience: I went through this last year and did a deep dive into the market because I was honestly worried about the Q7's sleek roofline. I spent way too much time comparing YAKIMA SkyBox 16 Carbonite Cargo Roof Box against the stuff from Sweden. While others love Thule, I found the Yakima mounting hardware way more intuitive for the Audi rails... plus it doesn't have that crazy high-end price tag.
For the interior, I actually skipped the usual liners and went with 3D MAXpider KAGU Series Floor Mat instead. Ngl, they look way more premium than the heavy-duty rubber ones and they kinda blend into the carpet so it doesn't feel like you're driving a utility van. Also, be careful with the leather seats!! I tried a cheap protector first and it literally stained the hide, so I switched to Diono Ultra Mat Car Seat Protector... it's super thick and actually stays put during long hauls. Just my two cents, gl!! 👍
In my experience, you dont need to drop a fortune at the Audi dealership. For the roof, I've tried many but Thule Force XT L Rooftop Cargo Box is the sweet spot for price vs. space... honestly, it's way cheaper than the OEM Audi ones. For inside, WeatherTech FloorLiner HP for Audi Q7 are basically the industry standard for a reason. They fit the Q7 dimensions perfectly and wont look cheap like those generic $20 sets from big box stores. Plus, highkey, they're easier to spray down after the kids spill stuff lol. gl!
Ok so I've spent way too much time looking at the technical specs for the Q7's rails... for your situation, I would suggest checking out the Thule Motion 3 Rooftop Cargo Box XXL because it literally has a more aerodynamic profile than the Force XT, which basically helps with that annoying wind noise on long hauls!! If you want something super heavy-duty for the interior, compare the 3D MAXpider KAGU Series Floor Liner vs the WeatherTechs... the MAXpiders actually have this amazing carbon fiber texture that looks way more high-end and doesn't look cheap at all imo. Hope that helps you keep the cabin tidy!
Late to the thread but I totally agree with the sentiment that you dont need to pay the 'Audi tax' at the parts counter to get a premium setup. After 4 years with my Q7, here’s what’s actually held up for my family: * Inno Wedge Plus 864: If you're worried about the car looking like a 'dad-van,' this is the sleekest box out there. It sits super low to the rails which helps with wind drag, though the tradeoff is you cant fit really tall items inside. It looks amazing with the Audi lines tbh.
* Canvasback Cargo Liners: These are basically the 'pro-tip' for Q7 owners. Instead of a bulky plastic tray, these are heavy-duty fabric liners that velcro to the actual carpet on the back of the seats. They stay on even when you're flipping the 3rd row up and down, which is a life-saver for keeping the cabin tidy during road trips.
* Rhino-Rack MasterFit Cargo Box: A really solid alternative if you want something rugged. The clamping mechanism is sooo much easier to use than some of the older mounts I've tried when you're in a hurry to get out of the driveway. Honestly, the Canvasbacks have been the best long-term investment for my interior. They don't slide around and they make the trunk area look finished rather than just covered in thick rubber. Definitely worth a look if you wanna keep that luxury feel!

Soo I’m kinda new to the Audi world, but I’ve already had some pretty annoying experiences trying to save a buck. I honestly hated the look of those plasticky liners everyone suggests... they just feel cheap in a luxury cabin, you know? Unfortunately, I tried some generic ones and they slid around like crazy.
I ended up getting the 3D MAXpider KAGU Series Floor Mat for Audi Q7 and they're actually amazing. They have this carbon fiber texture that looks high-end but still handles spilled juice boxes and mud. For the seats, I’d suggest the Lusso Gear Car Seat Protector with Thick Padding because it doesn't leave those permanent dents in the leather from the car seats.
Also, since the roof boxes are so expensive, I grabbed the Lusso Gear Car Trash Can with Lid and some cheap headrest hooks. Keeping the trash off the floor is lowkey the best way to stay sane on a 6-hour drive!! good luck 👍
