I’m absolutely loving my Audi e-tron GT, but I feel like the stock wheels are a bit too conservative for such a futuristic-looking car. I’m looking to give it a more aggressive, custom stance without ruining the ride quality. I’ve been browsing HRE and Vossen, but I’m worried about how different offsets might affect the aero efficiency and range. Has anyone here switched to 21 or 22-inch aftermarket setups? I’m specifically looking for a flush fitment that complements the Daytona Gray finish. Does anyone have photos or specific brand recommendations that don't require spacers? What’s the best wheel design to balance that sleek aesthetic while maintaining the EV's performance?
If you’re looking to sharpen the e-tron GT’s stance, Vossen and HRE are the gold standards. The Vossen HF-5 or HF-4T in Satin Black offer a perfect "OEM+" look that complements the car's futuristic lines without looking overdone.
For a more aggressive fitment, 21" or 22" setups fill the arches beautifully, though keep in mind 22s can slightly impact your range. If you want lightweight performance, the HRE FF11 or VR Forged D04 are fantastic monoblock options. Pair them with a slight drop via a CETE lowering module for the ultimate aesthetic upgrade!
Quick question - are you looking more for a rotary forged style to save cash or are you cool with spending $5k+ on a custom set?? honestly, i've had issues with expensive rims before and it was sooo disappointing... anyway, i'd check out Variant Wheels Argon 21-inch or the Vossen HF-5 Gloss Black 21-inch which are way cheaper than HREs and look basically the same! gl!
Oh man, I absolutely LOVE the e-tron GT in Daytona Gray!! It is seriously such a fantastic color and honestly, it deserves some wheels that really POP. I have been hanging around these forums for years and I have seen so many guys struggle with this exact same thing!! Even though I am still kind of new to the whole EV wheel fitment scene, I have definitely learned that it is a balancing act between looking cool and not killing your battery life lol.
Before I give my full take, I gotta ask a couple things so I can help better:
1. Are you looking to stay with a monoblock design for weight, or do you prefer that deep-dish multi-piece look?
2. What is your actual budget for the set, cuz some of those HREs get crazy expensive??
Anyway, I totally get the struggle with the conservative stock look... it kinda kills the vibe! gl!
Not to disagree, but I'd actually suggest a different approach than just focusing on the look of those big name brands! I mean, I love the energy in the first reply, but coming from a more technical angle, jumping straight to 22-inch wheels might actually hurt the experience. Honestly, I've seen guys lose like 15% of their range just by switching to heavy cast wheels without considering the aero... it's kinda heartbreaking!
1. Stick with 21s instead of 22s. They balance that aggressive stance way better without making the ride feel like you're on bricks.
2. Look for "flow-formed" or forged options from companies like BBS or Brixton Forged. They're sooo much lighter than stock.
3. Maybe check out designs with integrated aero rings? Basically, they keep the air moving right and save your battery life while still looking high-key amazing.
Idk, I just think keeping that EV performance is just as important as the fitment. Plus, 21s give you more tire sidewall to work with... gl!
yo! so i've been through this exact process with my own GT and let me tell you, the safety and structural integrity of the wheels are highkey the most important thing when you're dealing with a heavy EV. honestly, i've seen guys go for cheap cast wheels and they literally just cant handle the instant torque and the 5,000+ lb weight of the e-tron... it's scary tbh.
For your situation, i'd seriously recommend looking at Vossen HF-5 Gloss Black 21-inch wheels or something from the Vorsteiner Flow Forged series. Here is why i'm so satisfied with this setup:
1. Load Rating: EVs need wheels rated for high weight. I went with Vorsteiner V-FF 107 Carbon Graphite 21x9.5 front 21x11.5 rear because they are TUV certified. Safety first, right?? If you hit a pothole at speed in a heavy car, you want that peace of mind.
2. Offset & Aero: To get that flush fitment without spacers (which can sometimes cause vibration or hub stress), you want a custom offset. A +30mm front and +40mm rear usually works well for a 21-inch setup.
3. Range: Honestly, 22s look cool but the range hit is real cuz of the rotating mass. Stick to 21s and pair them with Michelin Pilot Sport EV 265/35R21 tires. They have the foam lining for noise reduction and the rolling resistance is way better than standard summer tires.
Basically, just make sure whatever you pick is forged or at least flow-formed so it doesnt crack on you lol. good luck with the build! 👍
