I was just digging through some older threads on another Audi forum because I'm also looking to upgrade mine soon. Tbh it feels like a big rabbit hole lol. Based on what a lot of the community guys were saying, there are two others that keep popping up as solid choices besides the ones already listed.

Anyway, the Kenwood seems to be the one the audiophiles love because the sound processing is apparently top tier, but honestly the menus look a little bit dated to me. Has anyone here tried the Sony? I'm leaning that way just for the clean look but I dont want to lose out on sound quality if the Kenwood is really that much better.

Late to the party but honestly if you want the absolute best display and audio fidelity for that A8 L cabin you gotta go big! I just finished putting the Kenwood Excelon Reference DMX1057XR in mine and wow... the 10.1 inch high-def screen is just fantastic. It fills out the dash perfectly and looks so high-end! The sound processing on this thing is amazing compared to the stock unit. Regarding what #1 said about checking the warranty, I definitely recommend getting a pro shop to do the install so you get that peace of mind, but honestly its worth every penny for the upgrade. If you really wanna go all out, grab the Focal PS 165 FE Flax Evo speakers too. They sound so crisp and the bass is tight without being annoying. Love it every time I turn the key!
