Hey everyone! I’ve finally placed my order for a new Audi Q6 e-tron, and I am beyond hyped for the delivery. After months of researching the PPE platform and watching every review video out there, seeing that wrap-around digital stage in person really sealed the deal for me. However, as much as Audi has packed into this beast, I’m a bit of a tech enthusiast who believes there’s always room to optimize the experience.

I’m moving over from an older Q5, so this jump into a fully integrated Android Automotive OS environment is a big shift. I’ve been thinking about how to truly 'complete' the setup. For starters, I’m looking at dashcam options. With all the tech onboard, I really want a clean, OEM-plus look—something that integrates seamlessly without wires dangling everywhere or interfering with the sensors behind the rearview mirror. Has anyone found a brand that fits the Q6's specific housing yet?

Secondly, I’m curious about screen protection. That massive curved MMI display is gorgeous, but I’m terrified of fingerprints and glare, especially on the dedicated passenger display. Do you think a high-quality matte protector is worth it, or does it take away from the OLED vibrance? Also, for those who are already driving theirs, are there any specific 'must-have' apps from the Audi store that actually make a difference in day-to-day route planning or charging management?

I’m also looking for recommendations on a solid Level 2 home charging setup that plays nice with the Audi smartphone app for scheduling off-peak charging. I’ve got a budget of about $1,200 for initial 'day one' upgrades and would love to hear what you guys consider essential to make the cabin more functional or the tech more responsive.

For those of you who have taken delivery or are currently speccing yours out: What are your top essential tech upgrades or accessories to make the Q6 e-tron feel like a truly finished product?

I'd actually suggest a different approach - while the previous suggestions are solid, they can eat through your budget fast! Ngl, I’m a bit wary of matte protectors on those OLEDs because they tend to diffuse the light and kill that deep black contrast that makes the Q6 interior look so premium...

Here’s my technical breakdown for a high-value setup:

1. **The Display**: Skip the matte film. To keep that 'digital stage' looking sharp, I’d just use a high-quality ScreenMom Screen Cleaner Kit. It's basically the best way to keep fingerprints off without sacrificing the 4K-like clarity.
2. **The Dashcam**: Instead of the super expensive brands, check out the VIOFO A139 Pro 2-Channel 4K Dash Cam with Sony STARVIS 2. It uses the latest Sony sensor which is literally insane for low-light license plate reading, and it's much more budget-friendly.
3. **The Charger**: If you're using the Audi app for scheduling, you don't need a fancy 'smart' charger. I’d go with the Grizzl-E Classic Level 2 EV Charger 40 Amp. It’s a literal tank and saves you hundreds that you can put toward better tires later!

Anyway, that’s my two cents... definitely keep us posted on the delivery! Cheers 👍

Sooo true what was said in reply #3... messing with that OLED contrast is basically a crime lol. If ur worried about safety and visibility while driving, skip the matte and just keep a high-quality cloth in the door pocket.

I've been looking at the budget side of things too, cuz $1200 disappears fast!! Here are some ways to save while keeping things safe and reliable:

1. For the dashcam, I highkey recommend the VIOFO A229 Pro 4K Front and Rear Dash Cam. It's usually around $300 and the Starvis 2 sensor is literally the best for night visibility. Way better value than the high-end stuff but just as reliable.
2. Instead of the super pricey chargers, check out the Emporia Level 2 EV Charger 48 Amp with 24ft Cable. It's about $400, UL-certified for safety, and the app is actually better than some of the 'premium' ones for scheduling off-peak charging.
3. To keep the screens clean without the matte blur, just grab a Clean Screen Wizard Microfiber Screen Cleaner 6-Pack. It's like 15 bucks and works better than those protectors anyway.

Honestly, spending less on the charger lets you put more into a pro hardwire install for the dashcam, which is a win for safety... gl with the new ride!! 👍

In my experience, moving to the PPE platform is a total game-changer, especially with that triple-screen setup! Honestly, for the dashcam, if you want something that looks like it came from the factory but has way more technical punch, you should look into the BlackVue DR970X-2CH Plus 4K UHD Dash Cam. Instead of just sticking it on, you can use a MirrorTap cable to pull power directly from the rearview mirror assembly. It’s super clean, no dangling wires at all, and the 4K sensor is actually miles ahead in low-light clarity compared to the cheaper integrated units.

Regarding the screens... yeah, the OLED is gorgeous, but the glare on that curved glass can be *insane* in direct sunlight. I usually recommend the TheOCDPlug Audi Q6 e-tron Matte Screen Protector Kit. It’s a high-grade PET film that basically kills reflections without making the blacks look grey. You lose maybe 2% of that OLED 'pop', but trust me, it's worth it to stop seeing your own reflection while driving! Plus, it has an oleophobic coating that actually works against those greasy finger marks.

For charging, since you want that tight integration, the ChargePoint Home Flex Level 2 EV Charger is basically the gold standard. It lets you set your utility's off-peak rates directly in its app, and it plays nice with the Audi smartphone app’s charging timers.

Oh, and for apps? You gotta download ABRP (A Better Route Planner) from the Audi store. The native nav is okay, but ABRP handles the PPE charging curve data way more accurately for long trips. It literally saves so much stress by calculating exactly how long you need to stay at a station. Good luck with the delivery, youre gonna love it!! Cheers!

yo, congrats! for charging, it's basically Wallbox vs JuiceBox. Wallbox is super sleek, but JuiceBox has better app integration for scheduling imo. for the screen, clear glass vs matte is the big debate... clear keeps that OLED pop, while matte ruins the contrast. i'd highkey go clear! also, check out Thinkware for dashcams if you want high-end tech. the Q6 is gonna be such an amazing jump from the Q5, seriously!! 👍

Yo! Honestly, you gotta check out the Fitcamx Dash Cam for Audi Q6 e-tron 4K UHD Front and Rear Camera for that clean look. Also, I think a Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit Matte Screen Protector for Audi Q6 e-tron MMI Display is literally essential to stop those oily fingerprints!! I'm still figuring things out, but it looks SO amazing and keeps the OLED crisp... good luck!
