I recently picked up a B9 Audi A4, and while I love the interior, I’m really struggling to find a phone mount that doesn’t ruin the clean aesthetic of the dashboard. The air vents are shaped a bit strangely, so my old clip-on mount keeps slipping off, and I’m hesitant to use a suction cup on the leather. I’ve looked into some of those custom-fit magnetic mounts that sit between the center vents, but I’m worried about the magnet strength with a heavier phone. Has anyone found a solid, rattle-free solution that fits the A4’s specific interior layout? I’m looking for something sturdy that won’t block the MMI screen.

Seconding the recommendation above regarding custom-fit solutions! Honestly, looking at the market data for B9 accessories, standard vent clips are basically a waste of money because of Audi's horizontal slat design. I've done a bit of a deep dive into this and if you're worried about magnets with a heavy phone, you should definitely check out the ProClip Center Mount 855239 for Audi A4 2017-2024.

Unlike the magnetic ones mentioned earlier, this is a two-part system that uses a high-grade ABS plastic clip that snaps into the dashboard seams. It's super technical how it fits—it uses a gap opener to wedge into the trim, so it's literally impossible for it to slip off like those cheap rubber clips.

Here is why it fits your specific needs:
1. It stays clear of the MMI screen so you won't block your maps.
2. It's a mechanical attachment, so it handles heavy Android Ultras or Pro Max iPhones+way+better+than+a&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">iPhones way better than a magnet would on a bumpy road.
3. You can pair the base with the ProClip Adjustable Phone Holder 811164 which has a tilt-swivel for better viewing angles.

It's a bit pricier than a generic mount, but from a long-term build quality perspective, it's the only thing that doesn't feel like a cheap add-on in a nice interior, you know? Plus no sticky residue on the leather! gl with the new ride! 👍

Honestly, been there with the B9 dashboard! The vents are weirdly angled, right? For your situation, I highkey recommend the Clearmounts Low Profile Magnetic Phone Mount for Audi A4/S4/RS4 B9. It’s basically the gold standard for our cars cuz it sits perfectly between the center vents without blocking the screen. I use it with a heavy iPhone Pro Max and it’s super sturdy—no rattles at all. It's around $35, so totally worth the price for the clean look. Cheers!

Had a moment to think about this more and I really think you should look at mounts that utilize the actual structure of the dash. You gotta be careful with anything that just clips onto the vents because the B9 slats arent really designed for heavy loads and might snap or sag over time. I would suggest these two options if you want a more permanent, rattle-free setup:

  • Rennline ExactFit Magnetic Phone Mount PM01.19
  • This is a metal bracket that installs behind the dash trim. It uses existing screw locations so it wont move at all, but you need to be very cautious when prying the trim pieces so you dont mar the finish. It is way more secure than any clip-on.
  • Kuda Mount Audi A4 B9 Leather Phone Base
  • This is probably the most OEM look you can get. Its a color-matched leather base that sits on the side of the center console. It doesnt block any vents or the MMI, but make sure to check if it interferes with your passengers leg room before you finalize the spot. Just make sure your phone case is thin enough for the magnets to really grab. Thick cases with those built-in stands usually dont play nice with magnetic mounts and can lead to the phone sliding off on sharp turns.

Quick question—are you using a MagSafe iPhone+or+a+heavier+Android&linkCode=osi&------123456890?5422-20" target="_blank" rel="nofollow sponsored">iPhone or a heavier Android setup? I've tried many mounts in my B9 over the years and safety is honestly my top priority since I don't want a heavy phone flying off and hitting the shifter lol.

Before I give advice, it helps to know the weight. If you're on a budget, I've seen some solid VICSEED Magnetic Car Phone Mount options for under $25, but they can be risky with plus-sized phones. Lmk what you're rocking! 👍

Ok so, definitely avoid suction mounts on the dash cuz they'll *literally* ruin the texture over time. I'm happy with a custom clip that snaps into the dash trim—no rattling and way cheaper than magnetic ones! 👍

Curious about one thing: what phone are you actually using? I'm asking cuz I've had some bad luck with generic brands. Honestly, I tried a cheap Lamicall Magnetic Car Vent Mount and it was terrible... my phone literally slid off every time I hit a bump in my A4.

So yeah, before I suggest anything else, let me know if you're using a massive Pro Max or something smaller, cuz that makes a huge difference with the vent weight! 👍

Yo! I am obsessed with finding the perfect setup for the B9 interior because it is just so clean! Honestly, I think I heard about some guys over on the DIY subreddits 3D printing their own custom bases that slot right into the unused space near the center console. Not 100 percent sure if the clearance is perfect for every phone size, but it sounds like a fantastic way to keep those weird vents clear! IIRC, someone even used a ball-joint adapter from an old kit and just epoxied it to a custom-fit plastic wedge. It looks super professional if you sand it down right! I havent tried it personally yet but it seems like a fun weekend project if you want that totally integrated look without the rattle. TL;DR: Try 3D printing a custom bracket for the center console area to keep your dash looking pristine!
