Best screen protectors for the BMW i4 eDrive40 curved display?

Hey everyone! I just took delivery of my new i4 eDrive40 last week, and I’m absolutely in love with the iDrive 8 setup. That massive curved display is stunning, but I’ve quickly realized it is a total fingerprint magnet. Every time the sun hits it, the smudges are all I can see, and I'm also a bit paranoid about accidental scratches from rings or cleaning cloths over time.

I’ve been looking at a few options online, but I’m hesitant because of the screen's unique curvature. I’m worried that a standard tempered glass protector might not adhere properly at the edges or could potentially interfere with the touch sensitivity of the infotainment system. I’m specifically interested in finding something that offers a matte finish to help reduce that midday glare, but I don't want it to dull the vibrant colors of the display too much.

Has anyone here actually installed a screen protector on their i4 yet? I've seen a few brands like Spigen or some specialized ones on various BMW enthusiast sites, but I’d love to hear some real-world feedback. Do you have a specific brand you’d recommend that fits the curve perfectly without those annoying bubbles?

Honestly, if ur looking for a budget-friendly way to protect that screen without spending like $60 on a single piece of glass, I'd check out the ScreenProTech BMW i4 iDrive 8 Screen Protector Kit. I'm a bit of a cheapskate when it comes to interior bits, but this one is actually solid value because it's a high-quality PPF (paint protection film) rather than glass.

I went with the matte finish version for about $45 and it basically KILLED the glare from the sunroof instantly. Plus, because it's a flexible film, it actually wraps the curve of the iDrive 8 display way better than some of the stiff tempered glass ones I've tried in the past. It doesnt dull the colors as much as I feared, tho you might lose like 5% of that super crisp sharpness? Small price to pay for not having to wipe fingerprints every 5 minutes lol. Installation is a bit fiddly cuz you use a wet application, but it's way more forgiving than glass if you mess up the alignment. Just my two cents if ur trying to keep costs down! 👍

Seconding the recommendation above regarding ScreenProTech! Honestly, I was *so* worried about the glare too, but after looking at the safety data, PET films are way safer than tempered glass if you're ever in a wreck... you really don't want glass shards flying at ur face. Plus, the ScreenProTech BMW i4 iDrive 8 Screen Protector Kit is a total steal at like $55 compared to some boutique brands. I've also had great luck with the RUIYA for BMW i4 iDrive 8 Tempered Glass Screen Protector which is super budget-friendly, but just be careful with the alignment during install so you dont get those annoying bubbles on the edges. gl!

Quick question - before I dive into the tech specs, are you more worried about the glare or the actual impact protection?? Cuz that totally changes which route you should take.

I've been looking into this lately and honestly, it's a bit of a toss-up between the PET films and the tempered glass stuff. Since someone already mentioned Spigen, you might wanna look at Vancle Tempered Glass Screen Protector for BMW i4 iDrive 8 vs something like the Xpel Interior Protection Film for BMW i4.

The Vancle is basically solid glass, so it's GREAT for scratch protection from rings, but it can be a bit thick and maybe show more glare. On the flip side, the Xpel is a professional-grade film; it's way thinner and handles the curves perfectly without lifting, tho it won't stop a hard impact as well as glass would.

TL;DR: Glass is better for scratches, but film usually fits the curve better and cuts glare more naturally. Just depends on your priority tho! lmk!

Hey, congrats on the new i4! I totally get it... that screen is beautiful but ngl, the fingerprints drive me crazy too. For your situation, I would suggest looking at the Spigen Glas.tR Slim Anti-Glare Screen Protector for BMW i4 iDrive 8. I installed it on mine a few months back and it’s been a lifesaver.

So basically, it’s a matte finish, which honestly helps sooo much with that midday glare you mentioned. It does dull the colors just a tiny bit – like, barely noticeable – but the trade-off for not seeing every single smudge is totally worth it imo. It covers the curve really well too! I was worried about bubbles but it went on pretty smooth. Another decent option if you want something more specialized is the ScreenShield Matte Anti-Glare Screen Protector for BMW i4 Curved Display. It’s a bit thinner than the glass ones so touch sensitivity stays perfect. Just take your time with the alignment and you'll be golden. gl! 👍
