I just got my i4 eDrive40 yesterday and honestly I am so obsessed with it. That instant torque is wild coming from a 3 series but I am already stressing out about keeping the interior clean. I live in Portland and it rains basically every single day here, plus I have a golden retriever who loves to track in mud every time we hit the park so I need some heavy duty mats like... yesterday. The factory carpet mats are already looking dusty and I know they wont survive the week.
Im looking at three different options and I just cant make up my mind. First is WeatherTech because obviously everyone knows them and they last forever but I keep reading that they feel a bit like hard plastic and might look a bit too rugged or cheap for a $60k car. They are around $190 which is totally fine since I want to stay under $250 for the set. Then I found TuxMat which looks super premium and has way more coverage up the sides of the footwell which would be amazing for catching dog hair but I am worried they might look a bit too bulky or puffy in person. Then there are the official BMW all-weather ones which look the best style-wise but the lip doesn't seem high enough to catch real slush or spilled coffee.
I have a massive road trip planned to the coast next weekend so sand is gonna be a huge issue and I really need to get these ordered like tonight to make sure they arrive. Does anyone have the TuxMats in their i4 and do they actually stay in place well? Or should I just go with the OEM BMW ones because they look more official even if the protection isnt as good? I want it to look nice but I also dont want to be scrubbing my carpets for hours...
Saw this earlier and had to chime in! If you want to save some serious cash while keeping that premium vibe, you really should check out the 3D MAXpider KAGU All-Weather Floor Liners BMW i4. Seriously, these things are amazing! They have a sleek, carbon fiber-like texture that matches the i4 interior perfectly, way better than the industrial look of WeatherTech. I found mine for way under $200 which is a total steal compared to the dealer prices. For Portland rain and dog mud, they are absolute lifesavers because the material is super easy to wipe down and doesnt trap hair. The fit is incredibly tight so sand wont stand a chance next weekend. Honestly, for the price, you wont find a better balance of style and heavy-duty protection... definitely go for it!
Quick reply while I have a sec. In my experience, sticking with the BMW All-Weather Floor Mats i4 G26 is the safest move. Over the years I've seen too many third-party mats slide around, which is a major safety risk near the pedals. If you want more coverage, the 3D MAXpider KAGU Series Floor Mats BMW i4 are a solid alternative. Quick tip: always wipe down the retention anchors before clicking them in so they dont budge.
