I just picked up a 2025 Envista, but that massive windshield is letting in so much heat! I’m worried about the dash cracking and want a custom-fit shade that actually covers the corners. Does anyone have a recommendation for one that fits the rearview mirror housing properly? Should I go with WeatherTech or a foldable style?

Yo, congrats on the new ride! I totally feel u on that massive windshield... it's basically a greenhouse in there. Honestly, if ur worried about the dash cracking, u gotta skip the cheap universal ones. In my experience, they never fit around that chunky sensor housing near the mirror.

I would suggest going with a custom-fit one cuz the Envista's glass is so deep. Here is what I recommend based on my own testing:

* WeatherTech Custom Fit SunShade - This one is super rigid and literally blocks every bit of light, plus it has a silver/black side for winter/summer.
* Covercraft Custom UVS100 Sunscreen - Basically the gold standard imo. It's a folding style so it doesnt roll up like a burrito, and it fits the mirror housing perfectly.

I personally prefer the folding style cuz it’s easier to toss in the back seat than the rolled-up ones. Just make sure to get the one specific to the 2025 model year right? gl!

I went through this last year with a similar crossover, and honestly, it’s such a headache trying to protect the dash without interfering with the safety sensors. I was super worried about how the WeatherTech Custom Fit SunShade would handle that chunky mirror housing since it's a stiff material. Basically, the roll-up style can be a bit awkward to wrangle around the tech, and I always felt like I might bump the mirror alignment.

I eventually tried out the AutoTech Park Custom Fit Windshield Sunshade which is a folding style. It's interesting because the foldables usually offer better structural rigidity against the heat, preventing that middle-sag that lets UV rays hit the dash. In my experience, the safety-first approach means getting something with a precise cutout so you aren't putting pressure on the ADAS camera housing. The folding ones just felt more secure and less likely to flop down when things got REALLY hot in the summer. Just my two cents... good luck with the new ride tho!!

Stumbled onto this thread while looking for some maintenance tips... congrats on the new Buick! Before you pull the trigger on anything tho, does your Envista have the full driver confidence package? That extra camera tech behind the mirror makes a massive difference in how these custom shades actually seat against the glass. If you are worried about reliability and that dash staying nice for years, be careful with how much heat gets trapped. I would suggest staying away from the super thin ones. I have seen some shades cause the rearview mirror mount to get wonky or even loosen the adhesive from the heat soak if they dont fit right.
