Hey everyone! I'm desperately trying to find a decent air vent phone mount for my 2021 Buick Enclave. I've tried a couple from Amazon already, but they either wobble like crazy or completely block the vent airflow, which is a HUGE problem in this summer heat! I'm starting a new commute downtown next week (about 30 miles each way), and I really need a reliable hands-free solution for navigation. My budget is around $30, maybe $40 if it's *really* good. Anyone have experience with a specific model that works well with the Enclave's vent design? I'm really getting frustrated, so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Honestly, I’m gonna have to disagree with the universal mount suggestions here. If you’re dealing with the specific dash geometry of a 2021 Enclave, those generic Amazon clips are always gonna fail or block your AC. From a market research perspective, the industry standard for high-end stability is moving away from "universal" tension towards vehicle-specific mounting brackets. Basically, check out the ProClip USA Center Mount. It’s a two-part system that clips into the dashboard seams rather than the actual vent fins, so you get full airflow and zero wobble. It’s significantly more stable than the iOttie or Scosche stuff mentioned earlier because it’s custom-molded for the Enclave's interior specs. It might push ur budget a little past $40, but the build quality is night and day compared to cheap plastic mounts tho. Definitely worth the investment for a long commute.

I am so glad you posted this because I have been dealing with the exact same headache in my 2021 for about four months now and it is driving me crazy. I am usually pretty satisfied with how I can DIY most things in this car but this one detail has me totally stumped.

  • tried the basic vent clips
  • tried the magnetic plates
  • tried the gravity mounts Everything I buy either falls off when I hit a bump or blocks the air so much that I am sweating within ten minutes. It is honestly so frustrating that there is not a simple fix for this specific dash design yet.

Honestly, I am pretty new to car stuff, but I have to disagree with the idea of using the vents or the dash at all. I am always SO worried about breaking those thin plastic fins in my Enclave or leaving a permanent sticky mark on the dashboard leather. Those custom brackets the last guy mentioned look cool, but they seem really complicated to install and they are way over your budget. I think the best DIY way to handle this without stressing about your vents is just using a cup holder mount. It basically takes two seconds to set up yourself and it is super stable. I was nervous about it at first, but it is actually pretty GREAT for keeping things steady. Here are a couple of simple options:

  • Belkin Car Cup Holder Mount
  • This one is usually around $30 and it fits the Enclave holders really well.
  • TopGo Cup Holder Phone Mount
  • I like this one because the base is adjustable so it wont wobble at all. I mean, it keeps the phone completely out of the way of the AC so you stay COOL during your long commute next week. Plus, you dont have to worry about anything snapping off or failing. Have you looked at those yet? It feels much safer than hanging your phone off the heater vents.

Like someone mentioned, those generic tension clips are just gonna fail because of the way our vents are shaped. Saw this earlier and wanted to jump in. After trying a bunch, I finally found a setup that doesnt drive me crazy or block all the air. Those hook-style mounts are the way to go because they actually lock onto the fin. Ive had mine for a year now and have no complaints. It works. Here is why:

  • The metal hook stays put and wont slide off like the rubber ones.
  • It sits out far enough that the AC still hits you.
  • It is way cheaper than the custom ProClip stuff. The LISEN Magnetic Phone Holder for Car Vent Hook Shape is what I use and it stays rock solid. If you dont like magnets, the VICSEED Car Phone Mount for Air Vent Metal Hook is a great alternative with a regular cradle. Both are around $20-25 and honestly work better than stuff twice the price. Youll be much happier with these for that new commute!

Hey there! I totally get your frustration with those vent mounts – the wobble is the WORST! I actually gave up on vent mounts altogether in my old SUV, especially now that winter is coming. I switched to a dashboard mount and haven't looked back!

Specifically, I'm using the iOttie Easy One Touch 5. It suctions right to the dash, and the arm is adjustable so you can get the perfect angle. I think it was around $25-$30 on Amazon last year. I know it's not *exactly* what you asked for, but honestly, the stability is amazing, and it doesn't block any airflow! Plus, it's been rock solid even with the defrost blasting on high during the winter.

The install took like, 2 minutes max. Just cleaned the area with an alcohol wipe (usually included) and stuck it on. I'd seriously consider giving it a shot. Let me know if you want me to dig up the exact Amazon link or if you have any questions about the install! I'm happy to help.

Hey! I feel your pain with those wobbly vent mounts. I went through the same headache in my old Acura TL. Before you give up completely, have you considered a magnetic mount *specifically* designed to clamp onto one of the thicker vent fins? I've had decent luck with Scosche MagicMount Pro Vent – they're usually around $20-25 on Amazon or at Best Buy.

The trick is to find one where the clamping mechanism is adjustable and really bites into the fin. The smaller, weaker ones just won't cut it on a heavier phone. Also, make sure your phone case is MagSafe compatible, or you'll need to stick a metal plate to the back (which isn't ideal, I know). If that still doesn't work, seriously consider a ProClip mount. They're vehicle-specific and attach to the dash, not the vents, so super stable. They're pricey (around $70-80), but worth it if you want zero wobble. Let me know if you want me to dig up the exact ProClip part number for your Enclave! Good luck!

Hey! I hear ya on the vent mount struggles. Before you throw in the towel completely, have you considered a CD slot mount? I know, CDs are ancient history, but hear me out! I snagged a Mpow CD slot mount for my wife's old 2016 Honda Civic a few years back for around $15, and it's surprisingly solid.

It might stick out a bit, but it's way more stable than any vent mount I've tried, and it won't block your airflow. Plus, if you *do* still have CDs, you can still use the player! Just a thought before you spend big bucks. Good luck!
