For Buick LaCrosse I would also consider the brand. Do you need OEM or aftermarket?

For Buick LaCrosse I would definitely pay attention to the compatibility, especially if it's about electronics.

I've spent way too much time researching these things after a close call last year. For a Buick LaCrosse, you really want something that feels solid and wont mess with the interior look too much. I've narrowed it down to these two based on what actually stays working after a year of use.

This is my go-to because it uses a capacitor. Batteries are too risky in hot cars tbh. The image is super crisp for reading plates, tho the rear camera cable is kind of a pain to snake through the Buick's trim. Very reliable day-to-day and doesnt draw too much power.

Much smaller footprint if you hate stuff cluttering your view. It has a really wide field of view which is nice for intersections. Cons are it gets pretty hot and the voice controls are kinda hit or miss depending on how loud your radio is. I personally prefer the Viofo just for the peace of mind that it wont quit on me when I actually need the footage.

Building on the earlier suggestion about compatibility, I really had a rough time trying to get my previous setup to play nice with the Buick electrical system. After spending hours looking at voltage regulators and capacitor specs because I wanted a reliable 24/7 parking mode, the hardware I picked unfortunately turned out to be a total bust. It kept throwing low voltage errors on the dash and the video quality was not as good as expected in low light. Total letdown considering the price I paid. Looking at the discussion so far, we have covered budget, installation, and some of the more common consumer brands, but there is more to it than just fitting in the window.

  • software freezing during heat waves
  • massive parasitic draw
  • terrible app connectivity Tbh, if you want to avoid the mess I dealt with, just look at the BlackVue catalog. You basically cant go wrong with their gear, just get any of their dual-channel setups and it will probably be fine... just stay away from the entry-level generic brands if you actually care about your battery.
