I’m looking for some recommendations on a high-quality sunshade for my Buick Encore. With the summer heat kicking in, my dashboard is getting incredibly hot, and I’m worried about long-term UV damage. Since the Encore has that distinctively large, deep windshield, I’ve found that generic ‘one-size-fits-all’ shades from local shops never seem to fit right—they either sag in the middle or leave huge gaps on the sides. I’m interested in something custom-fit or a high-rated foldable option that actually stays in place. Does anyone have experience with brands like WeatherTech or Covercraft for this specific model? Are there any specific shades you’ve found that tuck perfectly behind the rearview mirror?
Honestly, i've had a few issues with generic shades too... the Encore windshield is just weirdly deep. So i tried the Covercraft UVS100 Custom Sunscreen and while it's expensive at like $100, it actually fits the corners properly without sagging. But ngl, it's kinda bulky to store cuz it doesn't roll up. If you want something easier, maybe look at the WeatherTech Custom Fit SunShade cuz it's a bit more flexible and stays tucked behind the mirror way better than those cheap springy ones!! iirc it's around $60ish? basically, just don't get the universal ones, they're sooo annoying in this car lol.

hey! honestly i get it... that windshield is like, HUGE. i found the EcoNour Car Windshield Sun Shade 2-Piece Foldable for around $15-20 and it actually works well cuz u can overlap the circles to fit the weird shape! i mean its not a perfect custom fit but definitely budget friendly and way better than the generic ones haha.
Respectfully, I'd consider another option before dropping big money on those custom brands. In my experience over the years, the really thick, stiff shades like the ones mentioned can actually be a HUGE safety hazard if they're not secured right, especially with that deep Encore dash.
1. I'm not 100% sure but I think some of the heavier ones can actually damage the plastic clips around the rearview mirror housing over time because of the weight.
2. Honestly, I've seen more people have luck with a simple, high-quality spring-wire shade. They're way lighter and won't crush your sensors if they slip.
3. Just make sure whatever you get has the "velcro strap" for the mirror—it's basically a lifesaver for that specific windshield shape!!
Anyway, just my two cents after dealing with this for a decade. Good luck!
Honestly, after years of trying every cheap shade out there, I'd say just go with WeatherTech and call it a day! They're super high-quality and basically indestructible. For ur Encore, definitely stick with a custom-fit brand like that because the dash is so deep and weirdly shaped. I mean, spending a bit more upfront is AMAZING for the long-term protection of ur interior!! It's literally the best way to save ur dashboard from cracking... plus they stay put! 👍
