I recently picked up a Buick Encore GX, and while I love the car, I’m struggling to keep the trunk organized. Since it's a subcompact, things tend to slide around quite a bit, especially when I'm carrying groceries or sports gear. I’m particularly curious if anyone has found an organizer that works well with the GX's dual-level cargo floor. I don’t want anything too bulky that takes up all the floor space, but it needs to be sturdy enough to stay put on the carpet. Have you found any specific brands or collapsible bins that fit the dimensions perfectly without blocking access to the lower storage area? What are you all using to keep your trunk tidy?
+1 to what was said earlier about avoiding bulky stuff. Being a newbie, I was actually terrified of heavy groceries sliding and smashing the rear glass!! I suggest: • Rola 59001 M.O.V.E. Rigid Base Trunk Organizer It fits the GX floor perfectly and stays put. Just make sure you dont stack it too high... blocking your rear-view is a huge safety risk!! gl!
For your situation, unfortunately Fortem Car Trunk Organizer was too bulky for the GX. I switched to the Amooca Envelope Style Trunk Cargo Net—it fits the 37" width perfectly and is way cheaper.
Yo, I'm a day late to the party but honestly, I feel u on the sliding gear thing. When I first got my GX, I spent way too much time obsessing over the exact cubic footage of that dual-level area. I actually took a tape measure out to see how much room I was losing with different setups! Basically, the technical challenge is the carpet texture—it’s actually quite slick for a subcompact. For your situation, I would suggest: - Just get any collapsible organizer from **WeatherTech**. In my experience, their material grip is reallyyy superior to the cheap stuff.
- Go with **Drive Auto** if you want something with adjustable straps. Over the years, I’ve found that hooking into the GX side points is the only way to keep things from shifting.
- Honestly, just get a simple cargo net from **Buick** or any generic brand. It’s the best way to keep things secure when you have the floor in the lower position. I learned the hard way that rigid plastic bins are basically the enemy cuz they slide like hockey pucks. Soft-sided stuff with velcro is 100% the way to go!! gl
Building on the earlier suggestion, I am literally dealing with this exact same mess right now. I spent half my Saturday measuring the clearance between the rear seat backs and the liftgate because I am terrified of something shifting and denting the interior trim or, worse, cracking the glass. tbh, I am trying to keep costs down since I already spent enough on the car itself, so I am really hesitant to drop big money on a high-end system. I actually tried using a cheap Honey-Can-Do SFT-01166 Trunk Organizer I found on sale, but the base did not have enough grip for the GX carpet. It just slid around like it was on ice. I was looking at the Drive Auto Car Trunk Organizer because it is way cheaper than the Rola, but I am worried that if I use something with heavy-duty velcro, it might chew up the floor fibers over time... the material back there feels a bit thin and I do not want to ruin the resale value. I am basically stuck in analysis paralysis trying to find a budget-friendly way to secure my gear without it looking like a total disaster area.
