Ive been driving mid-size SUVs for years so I thought I had the whole cargo management thing figured out but my new Buick Enclave is giving me a headache. The cargo floor is way more slippery than my old Pilot and my usual bins just fly around whenever I hit a corner. I am trying to find something that stays put, especially since I use that deep under-floor compartment for my emergency kit and it makes the surface uneven for standard organizers. I need to get this sorted before our family road trip to Florida in three weeks and my budget is around 150 bucks max.
Does anyone have a specific brand that actually stays anchored in these newer models?
@Reply #2 - good point! Friction is huge but honestly that uneven floor lid is the bigger headache. If you get a soft-sided bag it just sags into the gaps when you put weight in it. I switched to the Rola 59001 M.O.V.E. Rigid Base Trunk Organizer precisely because the bottom is actually stiff. It spans across the under-floor compartment lid without tipping over or folding in on itself. It usually runs about 80 bucks so it fits your budget easily. The dividers are adjustable too which is nice for packing groceries vs road trip gear. Tbh the grip on the bottom is decent but for a slippery Enclave floor I just threw a cheap rubber mesh liner under it. Works fine and keeps everything from shifting when youre hitting the highway. Its a solid middle-ground if you dont want to spend a fortune on a full custom cargo tray.
I had a similar issue with my 2021 model because that cargo floor is basically a skating rink for plastic bins. Since the Enclave carpet doesnt play nice with standard velcro, you really need something with tie-down straps. I currently use the Drive Auto Products Car Cargo Organizer with Straps and it works because it clips directly into the factory cargo hooks. It stays anchored even when taking corners at speed, which is exactly what you need for that Florida trip. For the uneven floor issue near the storage bin, the Fortem Car Trunk Organizer with Non-Slip Bottom and Securing Straps is a solid choice. It has a rigid base that handles the transition over the recessed area better than soft-sided bags. Both of these are well under your 150 budget. Honestly, the key is the strap system tho... without those hooks, nothing is gonna stay put on that slippery material.
@Reply #1 - good point! Sliding was a huge issue for me too. Im really satisfied with going the rubberized route tho.
Like someone mentioned, that uneven floor lid is a major safety concern. I have been dealing with the exact same sliding issue for five months now and still dont have a solid solution. It is beyond frustrating because I just want my gear to stay put.
