Hey everyone,
I'm looking for the best dash cam for my Cadillac XT5. There are so many options out there, and I'm getting a bit overwhelmed! I've seen some that integrate really well with the rearview mirror, which I'd prefer if possible, but I'm not sure which ones are actually compatible with the XT5's electronics. Also, I live in a pretty hot climate, so I need something that can withstand the summer heat without malfunctioning or falling off the windshield.
Does anyone have a dash cam they'd recommend specifically for the XT5, maybe something they've installed themselves? What features should I be prioritizing for this particular car, and are there any specific models I should avoid? Thanks for your help!

Hey! I've got an XT5 too. I went with a BlackVue DR900X. It's pricier, but super reliable and handles the heat well here in Arizona. I had it professionally installed to avoid any wiring issues, and honestly, it's worth the peace of mind.

Hey there! BlackVue is solid, but if you're on a tighter budget, might want to consider Viofo A129 Pro Duo. It's 4K front and 1080p rear. Seriously good bang for your buck.
I installed mine myself; it's not too hard, but be careful routing the rear camera cable through the XT5's headliner – you don't wanna mess with the airbags! Make sure to use a fuse tap for power; don't just splice into existing wiring. Hope this helps!

Hey! While BlackVue and Viofo are good, think about what happens *after* an incident. Some dash cams, like the Thinkware Q800 Pro, offer a 'geofencing' feature. You can set zones, and if the car's hit while parked in that zone, it sends a notification to your phone. It's a decent option safety-wise, IMO. Also, Thinkware's parking mode is pretty robust, which is great for hit-and-runs. Just a thought!
