I just picked up a CT4-V and want to protect it, but I’m worried about cluttered wires ruining the clean interior. Does anyone have recommendations for a dash cam that integrates well with the mirror housing or uses a plug-and-play harness? I’m looking for 4K quality and reliable parking mode. What are you guys running in your Vs?
Sooo, I went through this last year when I got my V. Honestly, I was terrified of ripping into the trim or having some ugly wire hanging down... it literally kills the vibe of that clean Cadillac dash. I'm still kinda new to hardwiring stuff, so I was super cautious. I ended up trying out the Fitcamx Dash Cam for Cadillac CT4 4K because it basically replaces the plastic shell behind the rearview mirror. It looks TOTALLY stock, which was my main goal. For the power, I used a Dongar Dash Cam Power Adapter 10-pin Type B for Select GM that taps right into the mirror's power source. It made the install sooo much easier for a beginner like me! One thing though, I'm still figuring out the parking mode stuff... I think you might need a separate fuse box kit if you want it to record for a long time while parked. But yeah, the 4K quality is actually sharp! gl with the new ride!!
So basically the consensus is everyone's terrified of ruining that clean Cadillac interior lol. Most of u guys recommended the Fitcamx 4K Dash Cam for Cadillac CT4 for that OEM look, but honestly, if u want the best market-leading tech, here's my take after years of testing these things:
1. Vantrue E1 2.7K WiFi Dash Cam:
- Pros: Super tiny, easy to hide behind the mirror.
- Cons: Not true 4K like the others.
2. VIOFO A139 Pro 3-CH 4K Dash Cam:
- Pros: Best image sensor (Sony Starvis 2) for night driving.
- Cons: More wires to tuck if u do the rear cam.
Tbh, I'd go Viofo for the reliability. gl!
Yo! Congrats on the new CT4-V, those things are absolute rockets!! I totally get the worry about the interior—honestly, I'm the exact same way. I'm super cautious about anything that messes with the factory look, especially with the tech in these newer Cadillacs.
For my V, I highkey recommend looking into Fitcamx. Basically, they make these amazing housings that replace the plastic trim behind your rearview mirror, so it looks 100% OEM. No messy wires hanging down or taped to the windshield!! You just use a plug-and-play harness that taps into the power from your mirror.
I went with their 4K setup and the quality is fantastic, seriouslyyy. Just a heads up tho—if you're doing parking mode, you might still need a professional to look at the fuse box just to be safe with the battery drain. It's been rock solid for me so far!
What kind of specs did you get on ur CT4-V? 👍
Story time: I went through this exact same headache last year... honestly, I was terrified of a dash cam triggering some random electrical gremlins or draining the battery on my V. I've seen too many people mess up their mirror sensors by tapping the wrong wire, you know?
Basically, I prioritized a system that had a dedicated voltage cutoff because these Cadillacs are sooo picky about voltage drops. I spent weeks researching high-end brands like Blackvue and Thinkware, focusing purely on how they handle heat and battery management. Safety was my main concern since I didn't want a cheap unit overheating under that massive windshield. I eventually found a setup that felt solid, but it took a lot of trial and error to get the parking mode sensitivity just right without it being a total drain.
Before I share more on the wiring, are you looking for a setup that records inside the cabin too, or just front/rear? Also, what's your comfort level with messing with the fuse box vs. just using a simple adapter, right?
