Hey everyone! I recently picked up a Chevrolet Traverse, and while I absolutely love the massive amount of interior space, the cargo area is becoming a bit of a disaster zone. With the third-row seats up, that deep storage well is great, but everything just ends up in a jumbled pile. When I fold the seats down for bigger hauls, my groceries and gear just slide all over the place during turns.
I’ve been looking at a few options, but I'm torn between getting a rigid heavy-duty crate system or one of those collapsible fabric organizers that can tuck away when not in use. I’m specifically looking for something that fits the dimensions of the Traverse well—ideally something that won't block the under-floor storage compartment access. My budget is around $100-$150, and I’d prefer something with dividers to keep sports gear separate from grocery bags. Does anyone have a specific brand or custom-fit model they swear by for this SUV? What are you all using to keep your trunk from becoming a black hole?
Seconding the recommendation above! That deep well is basically a black hole, honestly. If youre on a budget, I highkey suggest looking at the StarTech 17x11x11 Foldable Plastic Storage Crate. I use two of these and they're only like $15-20 each. They fit the Traverse width perfectly and since they're rigid but collapsible, they wont crush your groceries like the cheap fabric ones do. Plus, you can easily slide them over to hit the under-floor latch. Best value tbh!
Seconding the recommendation above. Those crates are pretty solid but tbh, safety is my main worry with loose stuff. I had issues with a heavy tool bag sliding in a sharp turn and it almost shattered the side trim... not as good as expected! If you want something that actually stays put, I'm honestly a fan of the Rola 59001 M.O.V.E. Rigid Base Interior Organizer. It has a non-slip bottom so it won't turn into a projectile if you ever have to slam the brakes. Plus, it fits the Traverse well and keeps your gear from flying everywhere! 👍
Ok so, I totally get the struggle. When I first got my Traverse, that deep well behind the third row was a total lifesaver for space, but honestly, it basically turned into a black hole for my groceries after one sharp turn lol. I tried the rigid crates first, but they were a pain cuz they blocked the handle to the under-floor storage, which is like, the best part of the trunk!
In my experience, you want something that stays put but can actually move when you need to grab your jumper cables or whatever from that hidden compartment. Here is what I recommend:
- The absolute winner for me has been the Drive Auto Products Car Cargo Organizer. It fits the width of the Traverse perfectly and has these tie-down straps that hook into the factory cargo rings so it doesn't slide around. Plus, it has stiff base plates so it doesnt collapse unless you want it to.
- If you want something more heavy-duty but still flexible, I've used the Starling's Car Trunk Organizer - Durable Expandable Large Capacity too. It has great dividers for keeping my kids' soccer cleats away from the actual food bags.
- Another decent option if you're worried about the under-floor access is the Chevrolet Traverse Integrated Cargo Liner. It’s more of a mat, but it helps grip everything so things dont fly everywhere.
Basically, go for a collapsible one with straps. It’s highkey the only way to keep the floor access functional while keeping your gear organized. Good luck with the new ride!! peace
> "basically turned into a black hole"
+1 to that! I’m curious tho—are u mostly hauling heavy sports gear or just groceries? Also, how often do u actually need to get into that under-floor bin?
