I’m preping for my first winter with my Chevy Bolt EV and I’m a bit nervous about how the stock tires will handle the snow. I live in an area that gets pretty heavy slush and ice, so I’m looking for a solid set of winter tires that won't absolutely tank my range. I’ve been looking at the Michelin X-Ice Snow and the Bridgestone Blizzaks, but I'm worried about the extra road noise and rolling resistance. Since the Bolt is so quiet, I don't want something that hums too loudly on the highway. Does anyone have experience with these or other specific brands that balance grip and efficiency well for an EV? What are you all running this season?

Ok so, I've been driving my Bolt for 4 winters now and honestly, the stock tires are literally useless in slush. I tried the Blizzaks at first but the humming was sooo annoying and my range dropped like 20%.

Here's what I recommend for staying on a budget:

1. Hankook Winter i*cept iZ2 W616 215/50R17 - I switched to these and they're much quieter. Usually around $130 each.
2. General Altimax Arctic 12 215/50R17 - Basically the best bang for ur buck at ~$125. Grip is solid but rolling resistance is kinda high tbh.
3. Nokian Nordman 7 215/50R17 - Not as good as the top-tier Nokians but great for the price if u can find a deal.

Good luck!!

So i just saw this and honestly... i feel u. Bridgestone is AMAZING for ice but actually hums like crazy on the highway, which is super annoying in a quiet Bolt!! Michelin is way better for range tho. But if you want the ultimate balance?? Just go with Continental!! Their winter stuff is sooo much quieter and basically the safest choice for EVs. Good luck!!
