Hey everyone! I’m planning a road trip in my Chevy Spark, and as you know, cargo space is pretty tight with more than one passenger. I’m looking for the top roof storage box options that won't overwhelm the car's small footprint or kill my gas mileage. I’m specifically worried about the weight limit on the Spark’s roof and finding a mounting system that fits securely without a lot of wind noise. I've been looking at some Thule and Yakima models, but I’m worried they might be too long for the roofline. Has anyone found a specific compact box that fits the Spark perfectly without blocking the hatch? Any advice on a model that balances size and aerodynamics would be amazing!

Check out the Yakima RocketBox Pro 11 Cargo Box—it's lowkey a game changer for short rooflines. I've seen some guys on the forums mention that the Spark's dynamic roof load limit is usually around 100 lbs, so you gotta be careful not to overload. Honestly, the RocketBox is narrow enough to let you open the hatch fully. Also, pro tip: use the Thule Fit Guide or Yakima's site to double-check the crossbar spread. If the bars are too close together, any box will wobble and create CRAZY wind noise. Plus, keep it under 65mph if you wanna save your MPG!

Seconding the recommendation above about that weight limit! Honestly, the 100lb max is the REAL killer for the Spark. I'm pretty new to this, but I think the best way to save cash is looking for a narrow "sport" style box from brands like SportRack or even a generic soft-shell carrier. Not sure, but iirc those soft bags are way cheaper and wont kill ur MPG as much since they sit lower. Just don't overstuff it or it'll look like a giant potato on ur roof haha!

Would love to know this too

Ok so, for the Spark you really gotta be careful about the weight limit and hatch clearance. Here's what I recommend:

- Try the Thule Sidekick Roof Cargo Box 8 Cubic Feet—it's super compact and basically the only one that doesn't look like a giant whale on our small cars lol.
- Plus, the Yakima RocketBox Pro 11 Cargo Box is another solid bet cuz it's short enough to not block the hatch but still fits a decent amount of gear tho.

Just make sure to double-check your crossbar weight rating first!!
