Hey everyone! We recently upgraded to a Chevy Traverse to accommodate our growing family, and while we absolutely love the extra room, the cargo area has quickly become a complete disaster zone. Between grocery runs, the kids' sports equipment, and the occasional stroller, everything just seems to roll around back there whenever I take a turn.
Iβm specifically looking for something that works well with the third rowβeither something that fits perfectly in that deep well when the seats are up, or a modular system that I can easily move when we fold the seats down for more space. I've looked at some generic collapsible bins online, but I'm worried they won't grip the carpet well or will be too bulky for the Traverse's specific dimensions. I really need something sturdy enough to prevent groceries from tipping over but flexible enough to pull out when we need to haul larger items.
Does anyone here have a Chevy Traverse and found a cargo organizer or a specific bin setup that actually stays put and keeps things separated? Iβd really appreciate any recommendations for brands or styles that have held up to the daily chaos of family life!
Story time: I went through this last year after a grocery bag flew forward during a sudden stop. Safety is highkey my main concern with the kids, so I was reallyyy picky about finding something that wouldn't become a projectile. I spent forever looking for a setup that handles the Traverse's deep well without tipping over. I tried a few flimsy bins but they just slid around and felt unreliable.
Honestly, the best solution I found was the Chevrolet Accessories Integrated Cargo Liner to protect the carpet, paired with the Rola 59001 M.O.V.E. Rigid Base Trunk Organizer. It's built way tougher than those cheap collapsible ones and has a non-slip base that grips. It fits the dimensions of the well behind the third row pretty well, so stuff stays put. It feels way safer than having loose gear sliding everywhere, right? Definately worth it for peace of mind.
So basically, the Traverse has that super specific deep well behind the third row that's kinda awkward for standard bins. Why it matters is cuz if the base isn't narrow enough, it won't sit flat and ur stuff will just tip over. Check out the dimensions firstβiirc the well is about 48 inches wide but only like 10-12 inches deep.
You might find this useful: I've been researching the Drive Auto Car Cargo Organizer which is a great value pick. It has these adjustable tie-down straps that actually clip into the Chevy's floor anchors, which is HUGE for keeping it stable during turns. If you're looking for a cheaper modular vibe, the Fortem Car Trunk Organizer is another one to look at. It's got a non-slip bottom, but I'd still be careful and use the straps just in case. idk for sure since I'm still new to this SUV life, but making sure the bin doesn't exceed that 10-inch depth is key!! gl!
Huh interesting. I had no idea. The more you know I guess 🤷
Like someone mentioned, the dimensions of that well are super weird and can make even expensive organizers look like junk if they dont sit right. In my experience, I've tried many different setups over the years and there is a huge difference between the big name brands and the generic stuff you find at big box stores. Honestly tho, you should just do a quick search instead of guessing. I'd suggest:
In my experience, honestly after five years of hauling kids in my Traverse, you highkey just need to go with WeatherTech. Their stuff uses a high-friction material that actually secures to the carpet so things dont slide when you turn. Iβve been super satisfied with how their modular bins handle the groceries... basically a lifesaver for the daily chaos (at least thats what worked for me). You cant go wrong. gl!
