Seriously which roof rack actually works for a 2022 Chevy Equinox because the cheap one I bought from Amazon is driving me insane? Im honestly so fed up with this universal kit I got last month because it whistles like crazy the second I hit 40 mph and it feels like the whole thing is gonna fly off the car whenever I have my skis up there. Ive tried tightening the bolts like ten times now but it still rattles and honestly im just ready to throw the whole thing in the trash and start over. I have a trip to Breckenridge coming up in about two weeks and I really dont want to spend eight hours listening to that high-pitched screeching while im driving through the mountains. My budget is probably around 350 maybe 400 bucks if the quality is actually there but I really need something that fits the flush rails without being a total nightmare to install. I saw some Thule stuff but its so expensive and then there are these random brands on eBay that look just as bad as what I have now. Is there a specific brand or model you guys use that doesnt make you want to pull your hair out? Just looking for something sturdy and quiet for once...

I dealt with that same whistling nightmare on a trip last year. Totally kills the vibe. I eventually settled on the Rhino-Rack Vortex ROC25 Flush Roof Rack because it sits lower and doesn't howl. If you're trying to stay under budget, the Malone AirFlow2 Universal Roof Rack is a decent alternative. It is not as sleek as Thule, but it is sturdy and wont make you go deaf on the highway.

Honestly, most of those cheap kits are a total safety hazard. I had issues with a set that vibrated so hard it loosened my rail bolts. Not fun. Check out the YAKIMA JetStream Crossbars Black 50 Inch for your Equinox. They actually stay quiet. Quick tip: always double check your rubber strip seating. If there is even a tiny gap in the tracks, you get that whistling immediately.

I went through two cheap sets before I finally grabbed the BrightLines Crossbars Roof Rack for 2018-2024 Chevy Equinox and Ive been super happy with it. Best choice ever. Took it on a 500-mile road trip last month and no whistling at all. Pro tip: make sure you press the rubber seals down all the way into the T-slot or youll get wind noise regardless of the brand tho...

- Ngl I have this exact same issue and its driving me absolutely insane.
- Spent way too much on my setup and even my usual tricks arent helping.
- I actually missed a turn last week because the noise was so loud I couldnt hear my GPS... my wife was so mad cuz we ended up miles out of our way and the dog started howling at the roof.
- Anyway, im still stuck without a fix too.
