What performance accessories are actually worth the money for a Z06 because im honestly fed up with this heat soak issue ruining my track days. I love the car so much its literally a dream but every time I push it at Willow Springs it feels like it starts pulling timing and I just get so frustrated. I have around 7 or 8 grand saved up for this and I really need to get it dialed in by next month. Should I go with a better cold air intake or are there specific cooling bricks or aero parts that actually make a difference? I dont want to waste money on stuff thats just for show...

Honestly, heat soak is the classic Z06 struggle. For track days, forget the intake for now and focus on cooling bricks and fluid volume.
- LG Motorsports Super Cool Radiator is pricey but mandatory for Willow compared to stock. I'd start here.
- Fasterproms Expansion Tank is a cheaper way to add coolant capacity so it takes longer to heat up.
- Halltech Stinger RZ Intake adds power but wont stop timing pull.

Saw this today and @Reply #1 - good point! Heat soak is basically the Z06 middle name... you might want to be careful with just adding fluid tho, sometimes you need to address the actual heat transfer too. I'd suggest checking out whatever cooling gear Katech has or maybe look into Lingenfelter parts. Anything from those brands is gonna be way better than stock. Youll definitely get it sorted for next month, just keep at it!

Checking back on this thread and honestly... it brings back some pretty bad memories. I spent a fortune trying to track my Z06 a few years ago and it was basically just one disappointment after another. I tried the standard bolt-ons and some of the cheaper fixes people swear by, but unfortunately, they just werent as good as expected once the ambient temp hit 90 degrees. I actually ended up having issues with my engine health because I kept pushing through the timing pull... big mistake. Reliability has to come first or youre gonna end up with a very expensive paperweight. A couple of things I need to know before you spend that 8k:
- Are you running a manual or the automatic transmission?
- How many laps are you typically doing before you see the temps spike? Its just so frustrating when the cars potential is locked behind a temperature gauge.
