I just took delivery of my C8 and I’m looking for the perfect dash cam setup to protect it. Since the interior is a bit tight and has that unique rear-view mirror setup, I’m worried about finding something that doesn't look bulky or block my line of sight. I’ve heard some people mention the Fitcamx for an OEM look, but I’m also considering a BlackVue for the parking mode features. Does anyone have experience with a clean install that doesn't interfere with the PDR or the mirror wiring? I’m looking for something high-res that handles heat well. Which specific model are you guys running in your Vettes?

Honestly, I totally get the struggle. When I got my C8 last year, I was obsessed with keeping that clean dash look without cluttering the windshield. I initially dropped a lot of cash on the BlackVue DR900X-2CH Plus with 128GB microSD Card, thinking it was the gold standard. Unfortunately, I had issues with it overheating during a Florida track day, and the parking mode drained my battery faster than expected... not as good as I hoped for the price, tbh.

For your situation, here's what I recommend:
* Fitcamx 4K Dash Cam for Chevrolet Corvette C8 (Model A): This is about $180 and looks 100% factory. It replaces the mirror shroud, so it doesn't block your line of sight at all.
* VIOFO A229 Pro 2-Channel Dash Cam with 256GB Industrial microSD: If you want better night vision and heat resistance, this is a solid alternative, though it's a bit more "aftermarket" looking.

In my experience, the Fitcamx is the best value because it doesn't interfere with the PDR or the digital mirror wiring. Just be careful with the plastic clips during the swap—I think I almost snapped one because I was being impatient. Hope this helps!

Hey! Huge congrats on the new C8, that's such an AMAZING car! If you’re looking for the best value without cluttering that tight interior, I’d seriously suggest the VIOFO A119 Mini 2 Dash Cam with Sony STARVIS 2 Sensor. It’s incredibly tiny, so it tucks right behind the mirror out of your line of sight, and it uses high-quality capacitors that handle extreme heat way better than battery units—perfect for that hot windshield!

Honestly, I'm a bit cautious about messing with the mirror wiring myself since the C8 electronics are complex, so I'd suggest a professional hardwire kit install to protect your warranty and ensure parking mode works perfectly. You’re getting fantastic 2K video for way less than the big-name brands. Definitely pair it with a Samsung PRO Endurance 256GB microSDXC Memory Card to make sure it never misses a frame. It's a solid, reliable setup that won't break the bank! Good luck!

For your situation, I'd suggest looking beyond the standard options if heat management is a top priority. In a C8, the windshield gets incredibly hot, which can cook cheaper capacitors. Honestly, you should look into the Vantrue N4 Pro 3 Channel 4K Dash Cam with the Vantrue 256GB MicroSD Card UHS-I U3 V30.

Technically, the N4 Pro uses a Sony STARVIS 2 sensor which handles high dynamic range much better than older models, crucial for that low-slung Vette perspective. If you're worried about the mirror wiring, I'd recommend using a Dongar Dashcam Power Adapter 10-pin Type H for Chevrolet to tap directly into the rearview mirror power without any splicing. It keeps the install super clean and avoids messing with the PDR. Just be careful with the cable routing along the A-pillar to ensure you don't obstruct the side curtain airbags... it's a tight squeeze but totally doable! Hope this helps!

Hey! Massive congrats on the new C8—it's an absolute masterpiece! From a safety-first perspective, you really want something that won't fail when the cabin temps skyrocket. For your situation, I would suggest the Thinkware U3000 Dual Channel 4K Dash Cam. It's fantastic because it uses a built-in radar sensor for parking mode, which is much safer for your battery longevity and handles high heat way better than most competitors.

If you're still leaning toward that OEM look you mentioned, the Fitcamx Dash Cam for Chevrolet Corvette C8 is honestly the cleanest way to go since it replaces the mirror shroud entirely. To ensure your footage is actually there when you need it, definitely pair whatever you get with a high-end SanDisk 256GB MAX Endurance microSDXC Card. It's specifically designed for constant overwriting in extreme heat. Anyway, back to the install—make sure to hardwire to the fuse box so you aren't messin' with the PDR or mirror wiring. Enjoy the car!
