I'm looking to upgrade the stock exhaust on my 5.3L Silverado V8. I want that deep, aggressive growl when hitting the gas, but I’m worried about excessive cabin drone during highway commutes. I’ve been looking at Borla and Flowmaster cat-back systems, but which specific model provides the best balance for a daily driver?

Seconding the recommendation above! The Borla S-Type is awesome, but it's sooo pricey. If ur on a budget like I was, check out the MBRP S5080AL 3-Inch Cat-Back Exhaust System. It's literally hundreds cheaper, usually around $450-$500, and gives that deep V8 growl without breaking the bank, right? I'm kinda a beginner with DIY, so I was nervous, but it bolted right on! Just be careful and maybe have a pro look at it if ur worried about leaks lol. It's a fantastic value tbh!

So basically the consensus is that Borla sounds great but it's really pricey, and MBRP is the budget pick. Honestly though, I'm kinda cautious about loud setups cuz of safety and legal issues with local noise ordinances. Plus, some cheap systems can fail or rust out, which is sketchy. If you want something super reliable with zero drone, check out the Corsa Performance 14866 Cat-Back Exhaust System. It's expensive but probably the safest bet for high-quality daily driving... gl!

Honestly, I've tried many setups over the years and for a daily driver Silverado, you gotta be careful with the drone. In my experience, the Borla S-Type Cat-Back Exhaust System 140537 is the best balance. It's got that deep growl when you're on it, but it's basically silent on the highway. If you're looking for something cheaper, the Flowmaster Force II Cat-Back Exhaust 817669 is decent too, but it's got a bit more hum in the cab. Personally, I'd spend the extra cash on the Borla... worth every penny to avoid the headache lol. gl!
