Top performance upgrades for a Chrysler Crossfire enthusiast?

I’ve recently picked up a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire, and while I absolutely love the unique styling and the R170 platform, I feel like the performance could use a bit more 'oomph' to match its looks. I'm specifically looking for mods that improve throttle response and maybe add a bit more power without compromising reliability. I've been researching cold air intakes and ECU tunes, but I’m curious what this community thinks provides the best bang for your buck. Should I prioritize a Sprint Booster, or is a cat-back exhaust a better starting point for that classic V6 sound? What specific performance upgrades would you recommend for someone looking to take their Crossfire to the next level?

+1 to what was said earlier. Those Akebono Euro Ultra-Premium Ceramic Brake Pads are honestly a total lifesaver once you start adding power, cuz let's be real, the stock setup fades way too fast under heavy use.

Ok so, in my experience over the years, if you really wanna talk safety and reliability while pushing the M112 engine, you gotta look at the cooling system. Heat is the literal enemy of the R170. I'd definitely recommend swapping in a Needswings Coolant Performance Package or at least a Mishimoto 180 Degree Racing Thermostat to keep those temps stable during spirited drives.

Also, if you're worried about long-term costs, check your motor mounts. When you increase throttle response with a tune, the extra torque can shred old rubber. Upgrading to Lemforder Engine Mounts is a practical move that keeps everything solid without breaking the bank. gl!

Seconding the recommendation above. Tbh, while the intake helps, I've seen way better results from Eurocharged Performance ECU Tune for actual power gains. Also, swapping to Akebono Euro Ultra-Premium Ceramic Brake Pads is basically essential to handle that extra 'oomph' safely. gl!

Basically, you gotta understand that the Crossfire's R170 platform is sensitive to heat soak, so "cheap" power is hard to find. Check out NeedsWings Mercedes-Benz M112 Single Cold Air Intake Kit because it actually pulls air from outside the engine bay unlike the generic ones. If youre on a budget, you might want to consider the K&N 33-2181 High-Flow Replacement Air Filter drop-ins first. Ngl, the best resource is the CrossfireForum.org technical threads—seriously, those guys have documented every bolt! Also, be careful with the cooling system if you start pushing more power, maybe grab a Gates 34062 OE Precision Engine Coolant Thermostat just to be safe. peace

yo, congrats on the Crossfire! I've had mine for a bit and honestly, the throttle lag was such a bummer at first. I tried a cheap cold air intake and it basically did nothing but make noise... super disappointing.

If u want real results, here's what I recommend:
- Get a Sprint Booster V3 Performance Programmer. It literally fixes that pedal delay instantly.
- A NeedsWings Dual Cold Air Intake is highkey the gold standard for actual power gains on the R170 platform.
- For sound, skip the cheap stuff and go for a MagnaFlow Street Series Cat-Back Performance Exhaust System 16633.

Tbh, I'd start with the Sprint Booster cuz it makes the car feel sooo much faster without even touching the engine. gl!
