I’m looking for a solid dash cam for my Chrysler 300, but I’m a bit worried about the bulky rearview mirror housing and the long hood affecting the field of view. I want something that offers high-quality 4K resolution so I can actually read plates, but it needs to be discreet enough that it doesn't block my sightline through that relatively narrow windshield. Since the 300 has some significant blind spots, I've been considering a front and rear setup. Has anyone found a specific model that tucks away nicely behind the mirror without interfering with the auto-dimming sensors? What’s the best-rated cam you’ve used that handles the 300’s unique interior layout and visibility?

Hey! Honestly, I totally get the struggle with that Chrysler 300 visibility—the windshield is definitely narrow! Since I'm still learning the ropes with dash cams, I've spent a lot of time researching what fits that bulky mirror housing best.

For your situation, I would suggest looking at these two:

* VIOFO A229 Pro 4K Front and Rear Dash Cam with Sony STARVIS 2 Sensor: This one is amazing because it's wedge-shaped! It tucks right up against the glass next to the mirror housing, so it doesn't block your view at all. The 4K detail is fantastic for catching plates.
* Fitcamx 4K Dash Cam for Chrysler 300: This is actually a super cool option that replaces the existing mirror shroud for a completely OEM look. It's so discreet, but I believe it might be a bit harder to find the rear-kit version sometimes.

I really love how the VIOFO A229 Pro handles low light! It’s been a total lifesaver for me. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Respectfully, I'd consider another option before jumping into those standard bulky units. I'm still a bit of a beginner here, but from what I've seen, the Chrysler 300's mirror housing is a nightmare for traditional mounts. Tbh, I'd be really careful about anything that sticks onto the glass with a suction cup; it might block your sensors or just fall off because of the angle.

Hmm, I think a better approach is a dedicated OEM-style fit. I've been looking into the Fitcamx 4K Front and Rear Dash Cam for Chrysler 300 because it actually replaces the plastic shell behind your mirror. It looks totally stock and won't mess with the auto-dimming. Since you're worried about reliability, pair it with a high-end card like the SanDisk 256GB MAX Endurance microSDXC Card UHS-I so it doesn't fail when you need it. Just make sure to check if your mirror has the power plug already there! Hope this helps!

Seconding the recommendation above! Those mirror housings are seriously tricky, but you don't have to break the bank. I absolutely love the VIOFO A229 Plus 2-CH Front and Rear 4K Dash Cam for this setup. It's fantastic because the front unit is wedge-shaped, so it sits way higher and more discreetly than those hanging suction mounts. Plus, it uses a thin cable for the rear cam that's a breeze to tuck into the 300's headliner! To keep it budget-friendly, I'd pair it with a Samsung PRO Endurance 256GB microSDXC Memory Card—it's super reliable for constant 4K recording without the premium 'brand name' dash cam card price tag. It honestly handles the narrow windshield visibility perfectly! Hope this helps!
